I'm not really firm with the pricing in Australia, are those cheaper mainboards than with Intel's chips, or are they about the same? Just curious.

Yes, that's some attractive pricing, well done AMD + partners. 🙂

if all prices that appear today are more or less accurate, for me the motherboard will cost more then the cpu. 🙂 Going for AMD Ryzen R5 1600X with Asus Crosshair VI Hero. But we shall see.

It should be even less.. motherboard are +/- 40% higher priced in Australia than in USA.. (Thanks VAT, export cost to Australia ) .. Hardware price there is over charged. Some have calculated thoses numbers ( including the difference of price across a range of Intel and AMD motherboard prices between US and Australia ) - Crossair = $209 - 370 = $149 - 350 Plus = $89 - 350 A = $69 That seems a bit too low for me so, it should be something in between.

The lack of X300s is slightly concerning, but I can wait...

Those are actually quite bad prices. Better Z270 models are much cheaper than those. For example ASUS ROG Maximus IX Hero Z270 cost 229.

About where I had a feeling they would be.

They might end up slightly lower but I would gather the AM4 boards will be at a slight premium over the Z270's for a little bit.

$291 for a Amd Motherboard?! Come on now guys. I would of like to see something like $200 for the top model but this will all depend if ryzen can even compete with Kaby-lake in gaming for me at least. So far I am leaning on 7700k to be honest, for $300 dollars I can buy one of the best z200 series boards.

I must the only one that thinks that those prices are high... I though AMD had a cheaper "platform" than Intel...

Go look at a few of those top of the line Intel Boards, and compare the prices lol.

I know but not everyone buys high end MBs... You can buy a very decent Z270 MB for 150€ or lower.

The fact that there isn't a separate 20xx platform makes it better already.

Gonna play devils advocate here. If you look at the current AMD line up, FM2 is 1151 and AM3+ is 2011 v3. When the new Zen based APU's come out they will not be on AM4 AFAIK.
