What did they increase the clocks a bit on the core and raised the vram speed of a 290x like nvidia did with the 680 rebrand ie gtx 770?
Nope, seems to be a brand new chip with much lower power consumption. It's probably based on GCN 1.3 and that's why it's called enhanced Hawaii.

Who of you would have guessed that this is 2nd big GPU made by GloFo after R9-285? (How many months passed? Could have AMD made additional tuning to better match process?) 4 days left and everyone has to be everything but reasonable. Only interesting thing there is 55mm thickness ~> 3 slots big ass cooling.

has anyone noticed it says opengl 4.4 support in it? so amd did make changes to this enhanced hawaii gpu.. it may also be having feature level 12_1 support too 🙂

If this indeed a new card and not a rebrand then this might be a boost that AMD needs.

Post 14 has a 290x leak I guess? Same 208 watts. Was a 290x a 208 watt card?

can anyone correct me that upgrading from opengl 4.3 to opengl 4.4 doesnt require hardware changes? 🙂

I see this time to time on Nvidia side, drivers is what upgrades the OpenGL not hardware.

In the past would have anyone imagined ATI or nVidia would rebrand their cards from 2 years ago and sell them as their mainstream cards up to the high end and sell their new cards as opulently priced luxury items? This all began with the Titan, I knew since that point they would only sell their high end cards a niche luxury items and position their (what would have been) mid range cards as the high end cards. I didn't expect AMD to go down this path of offering nothing new for the regular market range though... especially using 2 year old cards.

R9 285 is already OpenGl 4.4 compatible, so this R9 300 being made in GCN 1.2 also are OpenGl 4.4 too.

AMD been doing this since FX processors series for a while now. as for the 300 Series we have to wait & see what change & what didn't change since they boost the core from 5ghz to 6ghz & a little boost of clock speed with 4GB more of GDDR5. only time will tell next week.

if i was in the market for a new card, i would definitely wait until the holiday season which is not that far away. all the amazing price cuts on these 970s, 980s, and 300s. i wouldnt bother getting any of these cards right now that's for sure.

The 290 series didn't seem memory bandwidth limited at all. Overclocking the memory didn't make any difference at all for me when I had a 290X.

Can't see it anywhere. There are only posts of cards from the 300 series.

What makes you so sure these 300 series cards are rebrands. Tonga replacement, which has the same number of what they SPs, has a TDP of 150W. That can't be a rebrand can it now? If these slides are legit, then the 380s, 390 and Furies are based on new chips.

People do not understand If AMD cannot sell R9 2xx stock properly than how can they sell R9 3xx rebrand with higher price.AMD knows that they cannot win back share that they have lost so they just playing a survival till 2016 with the help of fury.

But 285 was the only GCN 1.2 card from the 2xx series, so there should be some changes if all 3xx series are GCN 1.2.

That pic says power consumption. Did they mean TDP (as it isn't the same thing)? TDP has to do with the cooling system capabilities (Thermal Design Power) in terms of how many watts of heat it can dissipate prior to thermal overload. Would be great if they managed to get these chips more efficient.

but wasnt hawaii a gcn 1.1 gpu? if it requires a new gcn itteration to upgrade to opengl 4.4 then this gpu is not hawaii but a new gpu all in all that supports new APIs.. 🙂

It`s not a new chip,it`s the same old Hawaii but now is called Granada, also there is not GCN 1.3...the most advance version of the GCN is 1.2 and is in Fury XT.
