this monitor has a typo, the resolution is 3840 x 1600 because its the same panel as here http://www.guru3d.com/news-story/lg-to-offer-38uc99-ultra-wide-38in-curved-monitor.html

Unique Resolution
It's definitely a unique resolution for that aspect ratio. The extra pixels are welcome, as long as it doesn't negatively impact visuals in games or programs.
Either way, though, this probably wouldn't be at the top of my list at $1,299.

And? One game doesnt work well = thats it, drop the technology?
Kids logic right there.
Besides there is a workaround already, so your "argument" is invalid.

Maddness
Looks pretty cool. I doubt my RX480 could drive it in games though. And Vega is still 4-5 months away.

1299 (USD) is not that bad for such a large panel, compared to the exact same panel in the LG38uc99 at a similar price.
Back in 2006 i spend similar money on a Dell 3007wfp, and it is still going strong. Screens tend to be a more long term part compared to GPU or CPU.
Large LCDs have come along way in 10+ years but this size and form factor isn't going to appeal to everyone. So im guessing a supply/demand/cost formula is how they came up with the price.
A quick look at 2560x1600 30" displays today are still not that far off price wise. They have way more features now like internal scaling, actual OSD more than just 1 DVI port (the 3007wfp was bare bones).
Acers Predator 4k (newegg) is $1288, the 34" preadtor ultrawide is 1099. So the pricing is not that far off.
This size and form factor is most likely to be my next screen, i am kinda waiting for my 30" to die but it just keeps going, i may just have to bite the bullet and upgrade but i will wait till this one is more available.
