I would be satisfied if it can handle 4k @ 60fps on desktop and 120hz on 2560x1440 or 1080p @ gsync when gaming. Would that be possible?

As excited as I am to see a gsync monitor come out, this particular model doesn't do much for me, and definitely not for the average gamer. A) est. $949 is a crazy amount of money to spend on a TN panel. 4K is nice and all but I'd personally be more than happy at 1440p, as I don't intend on gaming beyond that resolution anyway B) Acer is just a...kind of a ghetto brand in my eyes...could just be a perception due to some junk I've had from them in the past, but I can't see myself shelling more than $500 on a monitor if it isn't from what I consider to be a top brand.

Those of you complaining about it being 60Hz, 60Hz vs 60Hz G-Sync is like night and day.
why would you need gsync anyway, I still believe screen tearing is made up belief that doesn't actually exists.. If i ever had it was so minor that I never noticed, those screen tearing screenshots sure look ridiculous..
As a G-Sync owner, you couldn't be further from the truth.

This is false. Never was it said that G-Sync will make lower framerates feel as smooth as higher ones. Higher framerates give you more information, faster, and more regularly, making things 'smooth'. The point of G-Sync is to display the rendered frames precisely after they are rendered, without: a) Having to wait for the next refresh (VSync) - VSync stutter b) sending a composite frame made of previous frame(s) and the current frame, with a tear in-between, the next refresh You eliminate stutter (caused by VSync and FPS < refresh rate), input lag (caused by waiting for VSync), and tearing when FPS < refresh rate. When FPS = refresh rate (and could go further), currently, G-Sync becomes V-Sync and you get ONLY the input lag associated with V-Sync. Whenever FPS dips once again, you get the benefits mentioned above. G-Sync will make 60FPS feel like 60FPS @ 60Hz, 40FPS feel like 40FPS @ 40Hz, by syncing the monitor to the GPU and not vice-versa like we have been doing for decades. G-Sync cannot possibly make 60FPS feel like 120FPS, otherwise we would be fine with any lower amount of FPS if you could extrapolate the same smoothness found at higher FPS just by doling out lower FPS. However, G-Sync makes it acceptable to run at framerates not matching the refresh rates, as without G-Sync, running any FPS =/= refresh rate will cause anomalies. You will still want to aim for higher framerates, but 80FPS @ 120Hz no longer stutters, for example. It will look as if the monitor was running at 80Hz.
