I won't get excited about 8k yet, if ever. Maybe I'll be interested in the long term if jaggies are still visible in 4k (which I haven't tried yet), but for now even 4k is out of the question. With today's development speed I don't see 8k being a practical possibility to play in for at least 10 years, probably more.

As of right now you need to subscribe to the engine in order to run them. It's $20 a month but you can just cancel the sub after the initial payment and keep the engine forever, you just won't receive major updates. Obviously I wouldn't recommend that for just watching demos but if you're interested in development I would. I've been creating some levels in it with some blueprint scripting and it's actually extremely easy to learn and use.

He has a point though. For example, do you think consoles are going to be running UE4 games at even 1080p? I have my doubts.

I doubt it and i blame the moblie cpu's they put in the consoles
