MSI GeForce RTX 2080 cards available September 20th
Over in Asia a series of announcements have been made. MSI will release three models GeForce RTX 2080 series cards. The 2080 and 2080 Ti Trio, but also a GeForce RTX 2080 Ventus. The new Ventus card seems to go on pre-order on August 30, with availability on September 20th.
And that means we now have a release date for the IB cards. I also noticed some prices, however, these are reported in YEN so beware of exchange rates margins. The prices are mentioned exclusive of VAT, I would not call the listed prices final as they could be overinflated for the preorder. They are mentioned to go live on Amazon.co.jp from 08 o'clock on August 28th:
- GeForce RTX 2080 Ti GAMING X TRIO price tax excluded 174,800 yen (1349 EUR)
- GeForce RTX 2080 GAMING X TRIO market assumed price 124,800 yen (965 EUR)
- GeForce RTX 2080 VENTUS 8G OC market expected price tax excluded 119,800 yen (929 EUR)
The Trio cards we've already shown and seen of course, however, the dual-fan based VENTUS is a new model. The MSI website is not yet listing the clock frequencies. Availability would be September 20th, and yeah the prices are just staggering.

People should not buy these cards at these prices - that's the only way to get the prices to drop. Unfortunately that's wishful thinking...

There's no place for plebs in computer sector anymore. Go play Checkers!

I wonder what are yields on those chips and if it would make sense for them to be made in case card prices were actually reasonable.

1349€ omg what is going on. I remember a time not too long ago when the top single gpu from nvidia was selling for like 500/600 bucks, everything gets more expensive and our salaries dont increase. Its not fair.
