The trashcan is built around a "thermal core" design, so the GPU faces inwards, built onto the mainboard as I understand it. Good design in theory but they could've implemented it in a far more aesthetically pleasing way.

Can someone explain me the quoted text? "....dual workstation-class GPUs...."
How??
Two fire-pro's?
From Mac Rumors:
---
The Mac Pro features the latest Intel Ivy Bridge E Xeon processors with up to 12 cores, dual AMD FirePro GPUs, six Thunderbolt 2 ports, and PCIe-based flash storage with ECC memory, USB 3.0, and faster 802.11ac Wi-Fi.
---
This thing won't be cheap though. Would like to see how these things fair in noise level taking into consideration the ammount of stuff that's in that small weird case.

The pictures on the G3d article don't show it well ... it uses 3 main boards in a triangular shape.
This means the only replacable components are the RAM.
Everything else is proprietary apple design.
