Two fire-pro's?

The trashcan is built around a "thermal core" design, so the GPU faces inwards, built onto the mainboard as I understand it. Good design in theory but they could've implemented it in a far more aesthetically pleasing way.

From Mac Rumors: --- The Mac Pro features the latest Intel Ivy Bridge E Xeon processors with up to 12 cores, dual AMD FirePro GPUs, six Thunderbolt 2 ports, and PCIe-based flash storage with ECC memory, USB 3.0, and faster 802.11ac Wi-Fi. --- This thing won't be cheap though. Would like to see how these things fair in noise level taking into consideration the ammount of stuff that's in that small weird case.

They stuffed two FirePro graphics cards in an angle, sharing the same heatsink.

This means the only replacable components are the RAM. Everything else is proprietary apple design. http://cdn.slashgear.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/06/mac_pro_2013_cooling-566x500.png
Honestly, i didnt expect anything less from Apple. Everything is proprietary for them, and even the inter-changeable parts that a user can get hold of they charge an arm and a leg for! this is just one of the many reasons i refuse to purchase any apple products

This really isn't a consumer level product to begin with.

This, and the hardware is proprietary to obtain the best design in size, thermal dissipation, and performance. Which they did a fantastic job at! For how much power this new Mac Pro in such a small compact design, that's pretty amazing.

It looks like a dust bin.
Such an original comment. Congrats.

did you use google to come up with that?

Whats the bet that this one leads to lay-offs at Apple.

To me Apple did not redefine pro computing because to me majority of Pro computer users want to customize their computers such as adding more hard drives. The Older Mac Pros you could do that to an extent. This new Mac pro is not for the pro users who had used the older generation Mac Pros.

You can add more hard drives. The thing is that they have to be connected by Thunderbolt instead of SATA.

I stand corrected.

Although I admit that it's kind of a bummer that after making the effort to make it compact, you have to add external hard drives and cables everywhere. Making it a bit bigger for space for upgrades would have been a better option for pros but... it's their design and they can do with it whatever they want. It's up to the consumers to decide if they want this small pro computer that you can't upgrade the internals and have to upgrade them via external addons.

Exactly! The first thing that came to mind when i saw it was 'trash can'. Then wondered how many people will end up throwing trash in it on accident. Me: "so you don't like such strong coffee?" co-worker: "nah, i tossed it in the waste basket. btw, people typically keep them UNDER their desks. You're a weird guy Andrew" You guys gotta admit, it's a guarantee some idiot will do something like this.

Not really, you can daisy chain thunder bolt, or use a server for storage. Most of the time these will be setup in an office setting with a couple main servers for backup and data storage nothing is left on the computer itself.
