THX TruStudio Features and Benefits

Creative Labs SB X-Fi Titanium HDTHX TruStudio is the result of collaborative development from Creative Labs and THX. This suite of technologies delivers the fullest audio experience for games, music and movies, while remaining true to the source and intention of the artists who created it.

  • THX TruStudio Surround: Provides virtual surround sound channels to control the level of immersion.
  • THX TruStudio Crystalizer: Improves the natural dynamic range of compressed music.
  • THX TruStudio Speaker: Improves low frequency elements and gives you the extra bass impact for sound systems without a subwoofer.
  • THX TruStudio Dialog Plus: Enhances dialogue intelligibility, allowing you to clearly understand dialogue along with music and ambient effects.
  • THX TruStudio Smart Volume: Automatically measures and adjusts volume to minimize sudden changes, so you don’t have to reach for the volume dial.

We should make a note that routines and features seen on earlier cards such as CMSS-3D are replaced by these new routines in the Entertainment panel only.  All other features and standards are identical to previous X-FI products in their respective modes.

Game Mode

Creative Labs SB X-Fi Titanium HD

Here we go with the strong point of the X-Fi series, the Gaming features.  Features available for the user are CMSS-3D which can offer a virtual surround field for those using headphones. X-Fi Crystalizer which is an audio enhancer, Equalizer, speaker settings and bass options.  We also performed digital testing with this card to verify that every feature available through analog was also available through S/Pdif digital output.

Audio Creation Mode

Creative Labs SB X-Fi Titanium HD

This mode is for those interested in recording, creating or producing their own music.  The Audio Creation mode of the X-FI card is very powerful and you have the full features and effects of the X-FI DSP at your disposal for recording.

Notes on Drivers, The supporting drivers installed on the first attempt and they controlled the various hardware features with no issues that we could notice.

Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Audio PCIe
Bordering on false advertisement, Creative's latest X-Fi isn't an X-Fi at all, it's a new rev of the Audigy series using the X-Fi drivers and gliding on the PCI Express bus. The EAX gaming enhancements are gone, however, in favor of the more usable Crystallizer and CMSS3D functions. The X-Audio does provide a good value with decent performance, stability, and last but not least, is does sound good.

X-Fi Xtreme Music Sound Blaster review
Creative's entry level X-Fi turns out to be pretty killer. All new hardware, all new software, makes this thing all the better. Gone are the old annoyances of the Audigy series, replaced by the X-Fi, which isn't very annoying at all!
