PowerColor Radeon 6870 PCS+ review -
Introduction
The Radeon 6800 (codename Barts) release and its derivatives Radeon 6850/6870 have been a surprisingly successful one, despite the 6870 being slower than a 5870. The success can be found on low thermals, good noise levels and excellent power consumption. The new mid-range series 6800 delivers a very decent chunk of gaming performance, a set of new features and, as always, will carry a nice price tag.
But reference is reference of course, that's why PowerColor decided to release an all new pre-overclocked model of the Radeon HD 6870. This is the PCS+ version where PowerColor pre-overclocks the card to 940 MHz (900 reference) and clock the memory at 4400 MHz coming from 4200 MHz. This should give the card a nifty nice boost.
One fact we all understand though, the new mid-range series 6800 promise to deliver a very decent chunk of gaming performance, a set of new features and as always, will carry a nice price tag.
With Cayman luring just around the corner, let's have a quick peek at the PowerColor Radeon HD 6870 PCS+ and then head onwards into the review, where we'll cover the features, architecture, photo-shoot, power consumption and heat levels and benchmarks.
Pretty much everything you can expect from a Guru3D.com review of course. Next page please.
