9. What's the best part of your rig?

For me it’s the way the system is built in the wall. It’s visible but does not stand in the way.

10. Any dislikes, things you should not have bought?

Overall I’m very pleased with the used products and changes. It is more that during the modding and building process things turned out differently than planned. I did not want to do a build-as-you-go approach because that can get messy, but in the end some things needed that approach. I’m a little disappointed about the FAN and LED part of the motherboard. It’s really unclear to set things up and running reliably in Linux. I guess all brands have that problem and that’s why for LED I switched to an external (aquacomputer) solution. For the fans I will probably do the same. It would be great if a manufacturer would step up and supply more information about their API’s for Linux developers to work with. It could only be beneficial for everyone

11. Did you modify anything?  cases/video cards/other? Did you do it yourself? Walk us through it.

Of course the housing itself: that’s not modded but built from scratch. I got the idea from the Silverstone Fortress that’s also built in this rig: sucking air in from below and pushing the warm air out at the top. Because the displayport and USB3 cables go under the floor to my desk I turned the motherboard such that the connections face downwards. I wanted the power supply above the water so it ended up behind the top cover. From there the system took shape.
All wiring is custom made: no standard set or extensions. The same of course for the water loop. Ordering parts and tools, trying, getting frustrated, trying again and in the end it’s not very hard.

12. Your 3DMark scores

Fire Strike: 20335
Time Spy: 10257
Time Spy Extreme: 5104
Port Royal: 5724

13. Do you have any future updates planned?

Nothing planned but I am very curious what the zen2 Threadrippers will look like…

14. Does your rig or mod have a name?

Splash. Just because there’s water in it but I might change the names of my other systems after movies starring Daryl Hannah now.
