Goodram IRDM Pro M.2 SSD  NVMe SSD(2 TB)

GOODRAM is a Polish brand of Wilk Elektronik (Wolf Electronic in English) established in 1991 as a distributor. It's a producer (from 2003) for consumer, industrial, and server markets based in Łaziska Górne; after the bankruptcy of Qimonda, it remained the only manufacturer of RAM modules in Europe. Goodram makes flash drives, memory cards, DRAM, and SSDs. We've received the latter. It's a 2 TB sample of their new/best NVMe drive, an IRDM Pro M.2 SSD. IRDM is a sub-brand from GOODRAM aimed at more demanding users/gamers.

GOODRAM IRDM PRO M.2 SSD was released in April. It has a storage capacity of 1 TB, 2 TB, and 4 TB. The drive uses the NVMe protocol, and according to the manufacturer, this series achieves read speeds of up to 7000 MB/s and write speeds of up to 6850 MB/s. The random read speeds are up to 650,000 IOPS (350,000 IOPS) and write speeds of 700,000 IOPS. The write endurance values are:

  • 700TBW for the 1TB model,
  • 1,400TBW for the 2TB model, and
  • 3,000TBW for the 4TB model

The MTBF is 2 million hours; the write endurance has a 5-year product guarantee and follows the NVMe form factor. The NAND flash is 3D TLC, the controller is Phison "PS5018-E18," and it has a DRAM cache of up to 2GB. It also has a massive aluminum heatsink to reduce slowdowns caused by thermal throttling.

The IRDM PRO M.2 SSD specifications are as follows for each capacity option:

  • 1 TB – up to 7000 MB/s in reading and 5500 MB/s in sequential writing. The IOPS are 350 000, 700 000 IOPS
  • 2 TB – up to 7000 MB/s in reading and 6850 MB/s in sequential writing. The IOPS are 650 000, 700 000 IOPS
  • 4 TB – up to 7000 MB/s in reading and 6850 MB/s in sequential writing. The IOPS are 650 000, 700 000 IOPS

GOODRAM offers a very lovely 5-year warranty on this product. For the 2 TB version, you’ll pay about 320 EUR. Ok, let’s look at the GOODRAM IRDM PRO M.2 SSD model, shall we?
