Today we’re putting the new Deepcool PQ1000M power supply on our test bench. The company is rather known for making the chassis, coolers, or fans, but two power supplies were already covered on guru3d. The first one was the DQ750-M back in 2018, a 750 Watt unit with an 80 Plus Gold certificate that earned the “Recommended” award. The second one was the DQ850-M-V2L which was reviewed in 2020, bringing, for example, the 10-year warranty (instead of 5-years), but on the other side – it was rather noisy in low-mid load. Another two years have passed (coincidence?), and the next unit from Deepcool is in our hands, again with more wattage (it looks like a rule).

This time, it’s an 1000 Watt model (in black), with an 80 PLUS Gold certificate, which means that it’s 90% efficient at 50% load @ 115 V, and 92% efficient @ 230 V. It is crucial because less consumed energy goes to waste (at least not in a significant amount), and that should affect your energy bill. It is essential in these wicked times, where energy prices skyrocketed recently. The Deepcool PQ1000M is an ATX power supply, and it has a semi-passive mode (until 300 W of load, the fan is not spinning at all). It’s possible to disable the fanless mode; then, the fan RPM is about 700. Speaking of fan – it’s a 120 mm fluid dynamic bearing. PQ1000M is a fully modular PSU, even the motherboard connectors are not attached permanently to the housing, but you still have to use most of them anyway. Nearly all cases have a power supply shroud now (at least ATX-sized ones do), so the unit and the cables will be hidden in most scenarios.

There are no colour variants, the only one available in black, but that’s typical for this kind of product. There are fewer wattage versions available:

• 650 W
• 750 W
• 850 W

I think we can agree that there’s nothing left to be desired in the department of wattage choice. The 1000 Watt available in the reviewed unit should be more than enough for most users; even an i9 12900K combined with the Geforce RTX 3090 shouldn’t be a problem. The PQ1000M is built with high-quality Electrolytic Japanese primary capacitors that provide enhanced reliability and durability. The unit is very compact for 1000 Watt, as it measures 150 mm x 140 mm x 86 mm. The MSRP is 100 EUR for the 650W, 110 EUR for the 750W, 130 EUR for the 850W, and 160 EUR for the 1000W models. A 10-year warranty backs Deepcool’s PQ1000M.
