Above, the 14nm Skylake Core i7 6700K processor. Familiar looking alright, processor package size wise. The processor is an Intel provided sample showing the code-name SR2BR.
These processors are housed on the LGA 1151 socket package. Your older processor coolers will all fit perfectly on this CPU, the bad news is you'll need to purchase a compatible series 100 motherboard like Z170 for Skylake processors.
For our review we will be pairing the Core i7 6700K processor with an ASUS Z170 Deluxe motherboard. Intel does not manufacture reference motherboards anymore for the consumer market.
