Prolink

The next stop was Prolink where I met with Ivan. She is a long time contact of Guru3D.com and after a couple of years it was surely nice to finally meet her in person.

Prolink had a bit of a rough start at the CeBIT. The day that CeBIT started their shipment with all hardware to display had not arrived yet. However on Friday they received all products and I was lucky that I wasn't a day earlier at CeBIT. Prolink is a well respected manufacturer. A company that isn't really out there alarming users with aggressive marketing campaigns. No, this is a relatively quiet company with a very keen insight on hardware and the reputation to deliver quality products, yet they always try to be a little different compared to the competition. That in fact is their signature.

It was obvious that (and this true for the entire CeBIT) that SLI is brilliant marketing, it was on display everywhere. Quite amazing to see. Of course Prolink had a thing or two on display also. Here you are looking at 2x GeForce 6800 GT's. Which quite frankly is a kickass SLI solution, far better than two 6600GT's.

The two images above are products that are relatively new for Prolink, embedded graphics units for mobile users. All the way above is the GeForce Go 6600 and below that one the Go 6800. Early tests and reports on these little puppies are that they smoke for gaming, especially in a laptop. Is this the future? I dunno, workstations/desktops will always be the bigger market as gamer do not like to play on a laptop. But if you have that stuff in your laptop, you are good to roll my friend.

Last photo at Prolink, this one caught my eye. We'll see it a lot in the upcoming pages. The new trend is going to be more silent and preferably passive cooling. PC's these days are getting way too loud and there is a big demand for silent products. I didn't write down what we are looking at but I think it's a GeForce 6600 (GT) passively cooled.
