ASUS ROG GeForce RTX 2070 STRIX review -
Product Showcase
The graphics card has been fitted with a Turing GPU based on 12nm FinFet architecture, and with almost 11 billion transistors, it has 2304 active shader/stream cores, 36 RT cores, and 288 Tensor cores. For those that wonder, the board is populated with GDDR6 memory from Micron. I already mentioned that there is no DVI connector.
You won't hear the fan noise in low-load situations as the fans do not spin when they are not needed (up-to roughly 60 Degrees C), once it reaches that temperatures the fans will kick in, but they remain at merely an acoustic level of only 32~33 DBa in Silent BIOS mode and roughly 39 DBa in performance BIOS mode. Both modes perform the same in games, it's just that the silent mode has a higher temperature (which is still fine).
A reference card has a ~175 Watt rated TDP, 75 Watts is delivered through the PCIe slot, then 1x150 and 1x75W Watts feed in through the 6 and 8-pin PEG (PCI Express Graphics) power connectors. Considering the tweak that ASUS applied, you do need to add another ~25 Watts here. However, we'll examine that further on in our review in more detail.
ASUS also offers a nice Radeon RX 6750 XT 12GB, we review the beefed-up STRIX Gamign OC edition with proper cooling, low temps, and low acoustics. Well, that and a nice factory tweak as well of course...
