Weirdest launch ever ? Without showing even one photo of the product Sony Entertainment announced the Playstation 4 to much fanfare today in New York. The company hopes to make use of its acquisition of Gaikai in the next generation console by incorporating its cloud technology. It also hopes to make its online platform a lot more social than it was back with the Playstation 3. Unlike past launches, Sony declined to show off the console itself. Instead, it showed off the new DualShock 4 controller and the games that will be running on the new Playstation 4 when it hits the market during Holiday 2013.

NVIDIA has showeed its first reference smartphone design. Based on the Tegra 4i "Grey" SoC with ARM Cortex-A9 cores, the Phoenix is a 5" phone with a 1080p Full HD screen. It's not a superphone but a mid to high-range handset, the Tegra 4i is less powerful than the Tegra 4, and the emphasis is primarily on multimedia, photography and LTE. 

NZXT introduces the FZ-200, a new line of 200mm fans. The regular non-LED model has white blades and costs $17.99. The $20.99 LED model on the other hand comes in five color variations (red, green, blue, white, and orange) and has translucent blades.

In what seems like one of the last times that Dell has to publish its quarterly earnings report, the company announces a fiscal Q4 2013 revenue of $14.3 billion, down 11 percent year-over-year, with a profit of $530 million, a drop of 31 percent year-over-year. The crash is particularly stunning when you look at the consumer division, which was once Dell's bread-and-butter.

Specs on AMD's upcoming Jaguar architecture have surfaced. This new core will replace the two-year old Bobcat and will take on Intel's Atom processors. The Jaguar APU will be offered in TDPs ranging from 5W to 25W, and will target everything from tablets to entry-level notebooks and nettops. AMD presented the Jaguar architecture at the 60th ISSC 2013 conference, the company confirmed that the chip is made on TSMC's 28nm HKMG process and that it has four x86-64 cores that, unlike Bulldozer, are completely independent, they only share a 2MB L2 cache. 

Gigabyte announced the debut of its latest motherboards series based on the Thin Mini-ITX form factor. The new GIGABYTE H77TN and B75TN motherboards enable the creation of slim and compact All-In-One (AIO) PC designs that adhere to Intel’s AIO PC specification.

Seagate introduced a new line of NAS units for small- to medium-sized businesses, in capacities ranging from 2TB up to 16TB.

OCZ announces its new Vertex 3.20 solid state disk features 20nm NAND flash memory. The disk will be available shortly in 120GB and 240GB capacities. The new Vertex 3.20 SSD is a 2.5-inch, 6 Gbps SATA III-based Multi-Level Cell (MLC) drive that implements the feature-set of the Vertex 3 Series but is built around smaller, state-of-the-art NAND flash process geometry.

Maingear announced it will ship SHIFT, F131 and Potenza series gaming PCs with NVIDIA's new GeForce GTX Titan starting from February 21, 2013. MAINGEAR, an award-winning custom PC builder whose name is known for building quality custom desktops, laptops, and workstations will add the new NVIDIA GeForce GTX Titan GPU to the award-winning SHIFT, F131 and Potenza desktops.

Digital Storm announced their Bolt Titan Edition, a new gaming PC with NVIDIA's GeForce GTX Titan card. The system will ship on February 21, 2013 with pricing starting at $2,499. It features the Intel Core i7 3770K 3.5GHz quad-core processor, the ASUS P8Z77-I Deluxe motherboard, 16GB DDR3 clocked at 1600MHz, 120GB Corsair Neutron GTX SSD, 1TB 7200RPM HDD, a DVD burner, Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit and a 500W PSU. That is one bitching nice PC case btw !

This AMD Catalyst 13.2 BETA 6 driver is compatible with AMD Radeon HD 5000, HD 6000 and HD 7000 Series graphics cards. This display driver supports Windows Vista/Windows 7/Windows 8. There are no full release notes released just yet, but given the timing, this most certainly is an optimized Crysis 3 driver.

OCZ CEO Ralph Schmitt revealed that the company will continue to rely on third-party controllers for its SSDs. Due to OCZ's limited resources, the company can only develop one controller at a time and the prime focus of OCZ's next-generation own-brand controller will be the more profitable enterprise market.

ASUS introduces the Sabertooth 990FX/GEN3 R2.0, a new motherboard it claims is world's first AMD-based motherboard with PCI Express 3.0 support. The board is available in the US and EU beginning today. ASUS today announced the TUF Series SABERTOOTH 990FX/GEN3 R2.0, the world’s first AMD-based motherboard to feature PCI Express 3.0 An interesting release as I'm not even sure of AMD's processors are PCI Express 3.0 compatible, which is a requirement.

Spire presents the X2.6018, a new mid-tower in the company's MOD series. Pricing is $69.99 (53.95EUR), the case ships immediately and a V2 version with meshed side panel (instead of side window) will follow next month. Introducing the new compact PC case from X2 representing a great combination of versatility and durability. The 6018 is positioned in the MOD Series, which is represents easy system modification, upgrading and awesome display options.

YouTuber ResetLoad has made a comparison between the various graphical preset options. ResetLoad used a Core i7 Sandy Bridge @ 4.5ghz with an NVidia Geforce GTX 690 and 8gb Vengeance RAM. Though admittedly, the YouTube movie is horrendously compressed. Ah well, fun to watch.
