Noctua NH-C14 Premium Cooler

Cooling 272 Published by Hilbert Hagedoorn 0

Noctua today officially introduced its new NH-C14 CPU cooler. Sporting an exquisite, uniquely flexible 140mm dual fan setup of two Noctua NF-P14, the NH-C14 is a highly customisable, premium-class top-flow solution that further boosts the renowned quiet cooling performance of the company's much acclaimed NH-C12 series.

"Our NH-C12 coolers are renowned to rank among the most capable top-flow cooling solutions on the market, so we're truly proud to offer a further substantial improvement in quiet cooling performance with the new NH-C14", says Mag. Roland Mossig, Noctua CEO. "This model really closes the gap to good tower coolers while being much lower in height and ensuring better component cooling."

The NH-C14's six heatpipe c-type design with two NF-P14 FLX 140mm fans brings top-flow cooling performance to a new level while maintaining a much lower profile than today's tower-style coolers and providing excellent airflow over RAM modules and near-socket mainboard components.

The two supplied NF-P14 premium fans can be installed on top and underneath the fin-stack to configure the cooler for maximum performance in dual fan mode and either lower profile or maximum component clearance in single fan modes. Run with a single NF-P14 fan underneath the fin-stack and with the top fan removed, the NH-C14 measures only 105mm in height, which makes it ideal for use in smaller enclosures and HTPC applications. Run with a single fan on top, the NH-C14 provides a full 65mm of clearance for chipset coolers or RAM modules with high heat-spreaders.

Topped off with a tube of Noctua's award-winning NT-H1 thermal compound, Low-Noise and Ultra-Low-Noise Adaptors (U.L.N.A.) as well as the professional SecuFirm2 multi-socket mounting system (LGA1366, LGA1156, LGA1155, LGA775, AM2, AM2+ and AM3), the NH-C14 forms a complete quality package for the highest demands.

NZXT Phantom review

PC Cases and Modding 229 Published by Hilbert Hagedoorn 0

We review the NZXT Phantom. Absolutely stunning in many ways as the design is simply great, the features are grand and then the extras still need to kick in. What about a 5-fold fan controller connected to a plethora of pre-equipped fans? Yep, a fan controller in the chassis, something we have been requesting for years. The NZXT Phantom is a full tower case with an excess of room for just about anything you'd like to install in there.

Zalman outs budget CNPS5X CPU Cooler

Cooling 272 Published by Hilbert Hagedoorn 0

Another CPU cooler is about to enter the market, this time from Zalman called the CNPS5X. Supporting both Intel (LGA1156, LGA1155, LGA775) and AMD (AM3, AM2+, AM2) processors, the cooler comes equipped with a copper base, three 8mm copper heatpipes and a 92mm fan that works at 1400 to 2800 RPM. heat pipes converge at a copper CPU base. The 92 mm fan is nested inside the aluminum fins. It spins at 1400~2800 rpm, with a rated noise level of 20~32 dBA. Together, the CNPS5X measures 127(L) x 62(W) x 134(H) mm, weighing 320 g. Installation is made easy by push-pins for Intel sockets, and a fixed clip for AMD sockets, requiring no access to the back of the motherboard.

The CNPS5X will become available in December for 26.90 Euro (about $37).

Beer keg casemod

Generic News 1994 Published by Hilbert Hagedoorn 0

Oh admit it you like it ... A geek has taken two of his loves and combined them in an epic mash up of beer and PC gaming. The details on the computer he put inside this keg are scant, but really who cares what the hardware is.

The dude took an old, beat up Anheuser-Busch keg and cut some windows into the thing. He then cut the bottom off so he could slip those PC components inside and powered coated the whole thing black. After the powder coating was done some chrome trim went on to finish the bling.

Inside the keg PC the dude added some blue lights. It won

Gigabyte GeForce GTX 480 SOC review

Graphics Cards 1673 Published by Hilbert Hagedoorn 0

Oh dear, did they just miss the boat? We review the Gigabyte GeForce GTX 480 SOC. This card is labeled under SKU code GV-N480SO-15I and comes with Dual BIOS technology, a SOC Default BIOS and one LN2 BIOS selectable by pressing a simple LED based button.

A card that seems a little out of place released right after the GTX 580 launch. But yeah, as our review will show, the card really is remarkably good, roughly as fast as the GTX 580.

Check out the full review right here.
