Final Words & Conclusion

Graphics memory usage

Before we move onwards into the conclusion, I received a question on how much graphics memory the game requires in ultra mode. So I had a peek at three resolutions:

So 2GB graphics card are sufficient for Ultra quality mode, at 2560x1600 you'd be really pushing it though. This is also the reason why at 2560x1600 on the previous pages you have seen some very poor results, as some cards have only 1 GB graphics memory.

Final Words & Conclusion

Medal of Honor Warfighter is looking to be a great game. The game has just been released and I've only been able to play three levels or so. The first game reviews seem to show mediocre results gameplay wise, the game rendering engine however makes up for a lot. I really am a fan of the Frostbite 2 engine as it can create many depths in that oh-so important visual experience.

On the graphics cards side of things, the Radeon 7000 series perform really well. The GCN (Graphics Core Next) architecture pays off. The difference inbetween series 6000 and 7000 is almost a little silly to observe though. Only high-end 6000 series cards like the 6900 series will be able to manage Ultra quality settings, which is a little weird to observe. For those on 6800, you'll need to drop back in resolution of image quality mode. High image quality mode should be sufficient as that alsone will get you another 30% extra performance. If all else fails you could forfeit on AA.

On NVIDIA's side the previous generation 500 series product still do well. Heck even the aging GTX 480 seems to be able to keep up really well -- that's nice. The series 600 starting at GTX 660 simply offers very decent performance, with the GTX 680 being able to play even in 2560x1600 with ultra image quality settings.

Single GPU wise the winner today is the Radeon HD 7970, AMD has been working with and on this title for a while now and they show leading performance accross the board. As stated the GCN architecture shows impressive numbers.

To bad AMD did not release a Radeon HD 7990 and left that to TUL only as multi-GPU wise NVIDIA quickly retakes the crown with the GTX 690, which is a rediculous nice card, with a similar sounding price-tag I must add.

So guys there you have it. Most modern graphics cards will run the game at Full HD quite well. For mid-range the 7800 series from AMD and the GTX 660 series from NVIDIA will offer great value for money. Card lower then this performance bracket can simply drop down to High Quality mode if needed, however ultra quality mode is where a PC gamer needs to be.

If you need a little more boom-boom-pow then the GeForce GTX 680 is great with the Radeon HD 7970 taking the performance lead single GPU wise.

The last bit I wanted to point out, all cards used today are reference cards with reference clocks. As you guys know AIC/AIB partners mostly offer factory overclocked or factory faster clocked products. That by itself can shift performance per card or brand upwards another 10% -- just so that you guys know okay ? Also mind you that the Radeon cards all have been tested with the Catalyst 12.11 Beta driver (download here) and the GeForce cards with the new 310.33 Beta driver (download here).

We hope you enjoyed this selection of measurements.
