Final words & conclusion

Much like it's little sister, the H67H2-I we simply like the simplicity the H67H2-M offers combined with heaps of features and pure raw power when you pop in a Sandy Bridge processor. That's in one sentence what the ECS H67H2-M motherboard is all about. It also makes this conclusion very much the same.

You can use it to create the most awe-inspiring HTPC with mucho power under the hood, you can work on it, you can use it for transcoding movies or working on heavy 3D Modelling, you can also pop in a high-end graphics card and build a light weight carry around PC from it that you can take to LAN parties. Really, the superiority of this platform is that you get to do everything with something very little at relatively low cost.

To put some icing on the cake, you'll get two USB 3.0 ports, you can make use of SATA 6G, you'll have your 8-channel sound, you'll have an eSATA port and on and on.

The one caveat is of course that this platform is not at all intended for overclocking. As such, in the BIOS you'll find very little interesting on the tweaking side of things, but you know what? In this case that's all just fine. So purchase a nice Core i7 2600 or Core i5 2400/2500, not the unlocked K model as there's no use for it as the BIOS does not even allow the base multiplier to be changed.

Memory wise you do get to be a little limited as well, you can insert four DIMM modules up-to 16GB but rated support is 1333 MHz, it would have been nice to at least select 1600 MHz. But the integrated memory controller in Sandy Bridge is so strong that even 1333 MHz is showing ridiculous high bandwidth numbers. So that's not lackluster either.

The ECS H67H2-M motherboard is about your needs and requirements, do you need something small and affordable and can live without additional PCI slots? Well, combined with the right processor the sky is the limit as with the ECS H67H2-M motherboard you'll build one seriously fine performance PC, with a product only 24x24cm in size.

And following the ATX form factor, this will fit into any chassis. Great stuff to play around with, and if you do not mind to forfeit on overclocking options, then by all means go for it. You can find the product for roughly 140 USD.

Products like shown today offer tremendous fun, and armed with a Sandy Bridge processor the performance be awe inspiring. Pop in a high-end dedicated graphics card and you'll have a seriously high-end frag machine as well.
