Events 170 Published by Hilbert Hagedoorn 0

Next in line at Computex was a quick appointment with In-Win, they are going strong and we have some new kit and two prototype chassis to show you in the photo-gallery.

Amongst the photo's you'll notice that from top to bottom their Commander II and Airtorn power supplies now will get a bronze efficiency rating, good to see that. The two white chassis are the prototype's and do not have names just yet. That black and white one with the diamond shape red mesh is interesting to look at, also it has the motherboard tray reversed meaning your mobo would be positioned upside-down.

Computex 2011 - BitFenix shows new kit

Events 170 Published by Hilbert Hagedoorn 0

After the colossal released of the BitFenix Colossal (I love to make this pun all the time), BitFenix is ready to introduce some new kit. New USB 3.0 upgrades will become ready, they have some new fans on display, and the brightest LED strips to fill up your chassis.

New are two entry-level chassis that will be launched at the 30-40 EUR bracket, check them out in the photo gallery, they are called MERC series. They are also working on a fan control unit based on an LCD screen which can control all fans by software. As an extension to that actual fan RPM can also be regulated (in the future) with the help of an Android and IOS application for your mobile phone.

Anyway, check out some of the photo's right here.

Events 170 Published by Hilbert Hagedoorn 0

When we tested the GeForce GTX 580 Lightning from MSI roughly a month ago, we stated that the product might become product of the year, it really is that good. But little we knew about an Xtreme edition that MSI still had in the works.

Armed with color changing fans and 3GB of memory MSI raises the bar once again.

ASUS Sabertooth 990FX review

Events 170 Published by Hilbert Hagedoorn 0

The TUF series (The Ultimate Force) Sabertooth 990FX is what we'll be placing under our microscope today, styled in the very same color as the earlier models with the ceramic design we see a lot of resemblances. But hey no tactical jacket anymore though.

This AM3+ motherboard is powered by a 10-phase Digi+ VRM. Socket AM3+ will support the Bulldozer based Zambezi FX Series Processors which launch later. The Sabertooth 990FX will come with four DDR3 DIMM slots supporting dual-channel memory up-to DDR3-1866 MHz straight from the EFI BIOS. What you'll also notice is that the TUF (The Ultimate Series) has four PCI-Express 2.0 x16 PCIe graphics card slots based on what you use the slots for of course. Interesting fact is that this motherboard series now is SLI compatible.

The motherboard you spot below is a new revision of the a Z68 from intel, the MSI Z68A-GD80 rev3, a little birdy whispered that this board will get next-gen compliant PCIe slots, meaning more bandwith. Initial tests with super-SSD PCIe RAID solition show a significant improvement in performance according to MSI. Yes PCie Expres gen 3.

After being awake for 30+ hours though I kind of forgot to ask .. how they accomplish it. Has to be via an additional bridge chip though, we'll cover more about this later this week. But for now have a look at the pretty pics.

NVIDIA 3D Vision $99 wired glasses

Graphics Cards 1673 Published by Hilbert Hagedoorn 0

NVIDIA has gone more basic with its new 3D Vision wired glasses, which come in under the $100 barrier. 99 USD / EUR gets you the same active shutter lenses as on the more expensive wireless pair, but replaces the wireless sync connection and batteries with a USB cable. That 10-foot cord both powers and operates the wired glasses, meaning no downtime while you recharge.

Graphics Cards 1673 Published by Hilbert Hagedoorn 0

Guru3D.com ImageNVIDIA announced that YouTube is for the first time giving users the ability to view thousands of 3D videos in rich, high-quality stereoscopic 3D on their NVIDIA(R) 3D Vision(TM) PCs and notebooks when using the latest version of the Mozilla Firefox Web browser.

"We're excited to introduce HTML5 and WebM support to the thousands of 3D videos available on YouTube," said Jonathan Huang, 3D Product Manager at YouTube. "By embracing these open standards, NVIDIA 3D Vision users now have a great way of experiencing YouTube's library of 3D content."

"Firefox with 3D Vision creates a stunning and smooth 3D video experience using HTML5 video based on open standards," said Jay Sullivan, VP of Products at Mozilla. "3D Vision from NVIDIA is a great example of the rich, innovative experiences that are being built on top of the speed and graphics power that Firefox delivers to the Web."

"Sales of our ASUS G series notebooks with 3D Vision have been strong," said Ben Thacker, vice president of Systems Business Group-Distribution, ASUS North America. "Now that users can view YouTube videos in high-quality 3D, we expect interest in the ASUS 3D Vision models to grow significantly."

With a number of new, consumer 3D video cameras launched this year, YouTube's support of NVIDIA 3D Vision technology extends its existing commitment to 3D, enabling even more consumers and 3D enthusiasts to share their 3D videos online. With attractively priced models now available from JVC, Sony and other leading vendors, users now have another easy way to capture and post high-quality 3D videos on YouTube, 3DVisionLive.com, or even their own websites by embedding the YouTube 3D video player.

To further showcase the new YouTube stereoscopic 3D video streaming capabilities and some of the latest professional and user-generated 3D YouTube videos, NVIDIA is now hosting the top YouTube stereoscopic 3D videos on its 3D web community site at www.3DVisionLive.com/YT3D.
