Ubisoft has disclosed details regarding the open beta for Skull and Bones, its forthcoming pirate-themed open-world action RPG. The game is slated for a global launch on February 16. It is designed to immerse players in a maritime adventure where they will engage in naval battles against legendary pirates, navigate through challenging world events, and progressively develop their pirate dominions over multiple seasons.

In Skull and Bones, players will confront notorious pirates, including Philippe La Peste and the Hubac twins, necessitating the formulation and adaptation of strategies to tackle increasing difficulties. Critical to success in these encounters will be the customization of ships and the acquisition of seasonal gear. Players will also focus on enlarging and safeguarding their empires by plundering for equipment and valuable resources during various world events that unfold in new game phases. Encounters with merchant convoys, elite warships, and formidable adversaries will offer substantial rewards upon victory.

Upon completing the main storyline, the game introduces more complex challenges and the potential for forming or dissolving alliances, which could have significant repercussions. Players gain control of The Helm, a premier smuggling vessel, and embark on building a smuggling network across the Indian Ocean. This involves managing factories, optimizing trade routes, and enhancing operations for profit maximization. Activities like Legendary Heists and Hostile Takeovers will continuously introduce fresh content and dynamic developments in the game's progression.

Furthermore, Skull and Bones will feature player-versus-player (PvP) activities with high stakes and rewards, including Helm Wagers and Cutthroat Cargo. Players will navigate threats to secure legendary treasures, with their standings in the pirate leaderboards reflecting their achievements. Each season brings new limited-time events, community collaborations, and treasures, with a reset in rankings to foster ongoing competition.

The open beta for Skull and Bones is scheduled from February 8 to 11, supporting cross-play and cross-progression across PlayStation5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Epic Games Store and Ubisoft Store. Participants can advance to Infamy Class 6 and earn exclusive rewards, such as ship cosmetics and the Pandal Lemur pet. Additionally, progress made during the beta will carry over to the full game, providing an early advantage at launch.

Ubisoft Singapore, along with other Ubisoft studios, has developed Skull and Bones, offering a cooperative gameplay experience where players define their path to becoming the ultimate pirate. Ubisoft+ subscribers will have early access to the game three days prior to the official release.
