Windows 11 will be released on October 5th. On this date, upgrades for suitable Windows 10 systems will also begin. However, the developer has stated that support for Android apps, which is one of the most desired features, will not be included in the initial release.

Microsoft revealed early last month that the business is collaborating with Amazon and Intel to enable Android apps to function on the new operating system. Apps will be able to be downloaded and executed on PCs thanks to the Amazon App Store, and Intel's Bridge technology will ensure that they can be run on x86 CPUs from Intel and AMD. The developer has not specified a specific date for when this feature would be included in Windows 11. Considering that the feature is yet to be tested over the course of the next few months, it is not improbable that the finalized version will be released alongside Windows 11 in early 2022.

Windows 11 comes with a new Microsoft Store rebuilt with an all-new design making it easier to search and discover your favorite apps, games, shows, and movies in one trusted location. We look forward to continuing our journey to bring Android apps to Windows 11 and the Microsoft Store through our collaboration with Amazon and Intel; this will start with a preview for Windows Insiders over the coming months.

Microsoft said Tuesday that Windows 11 will be launched on October 5. The free upgrade for Windows 10 customers will then begin rolling out. The corporation said the old software will be phased out. Microsoft expects all eligible devices to be upgraded by mid-year. Installing Windows 11 is optional.

The taskbar now has program icons in the middle, which is striking. Microsoft's Teams chat and video calling service is now integrated into the language bar. The company also emphasizes multitasking. The internet giant aims to make it simple to swiftly switch between apps. The pending Microsoft Store should allow users to download Android apps. This is done via Amazon's app store. The Android apps available will thus work on Windows desktops. This feature will not be available for a few months while it is being tested.

Windows 10 was introduced in 2015 and is the only version fully supported. Support will end on October 14, 2025, Microsoft said.
