The 12V-2x6 design, initially outlined by PCI-SIG, aims to provide a safer and more efficient connectivity solution. The new 12V-2x6 cables, designed for use with Seasonic's ATX 3.0 power supply units, support the latest graphic cards that require up to 600W of power through a 12V-2x6 connector. These cables are manufactured using high-quality components, including high-current terminal connectors and 16 AWG wires, to ensure optimal performance and safety. Compatible PSU models include the PRIME TX, PRIME PX, VERTEX GX, PX, GX White and Sakura, and FOCUS GX and GX White series.

For systems with older Seasonic ATX 2.0 PSUs, an optional adapter cable is available to convert a 2x8-pin connector to a 12V-2x6 connector, although it is important to note that PSUs rated at 650W with a single PCIe connector are not supported. Seasonic offers two versions of the native 12V-2x6 cables, as well as a non-native variant, to accommodate different system requirements.

This initiative by Seasonic is particularly relevant in light of the increased power demands of the latest generation of graphics cards, such as the RTX 40-series GPUs. The introduction of the 12V-2x6 cables with H++ connectors is part of Seasonic's effort to stay ahead of these requirements, ensuring reliable and efficient power delivery to high-performance graphics cards.
