Sabrent has introduced the Rocket 5 series, its latest addition to the M.2 NVMe SSD lineup. The series is designed in the M.2-2280 form-factor and is available as a bare drive. An optional fan-heatsink accessory is provided for enhanced cooling, featuring a small fin stack, dual copper heat pipes, and a 20 mm fan for effective heat dissipation. At the core of the Rocket 5 SSD is the Phison PS5026-E26 Max14um controller, which is complemented by Micron B58R 232-layer 3D NAND flash memory and an LPDDR4-based DRAM cache. The SSD is offered in three storage capacities: 1 TB, 2 TB, and 4 TB.

While Sabrent has not specified performance or endurance metrics for each capacity, the company indicates that the drive can achieve sequential read speeds of up to 14 GB/s and sequential write speeds of up to 12 GB/s, owing to the capabilities of the Max14um controller. The drive also supports up to 1.55 million IOPS for 4K random reads and up to 1.8 million IOPS for 4K random writes. The Rocket 5 series succeeds the Rocket 4 Plus, positioning itself as Sabrent's premier SSD offering. Pricing for the series is set at approximately $730 for the 4 TB model, $340 for the 2 TB version, and $190 for the 1 TB variant.
