The Intel Core i5-14400, an as-yet-unannounced desktop processor, has made an appearance on Geekbench. This offers insights into Intel's future plans, as the processor might be launched in the upcoming year. The Geekbench listing reveals that the processor features six P-cores and four E-cores, summing up to ten cores and sixteen threads with a TDP of 65W.

The Core i5-14400 is believed to belong to the Raptor Lake family, aligning with the 14th Gen Core CPUs. When considering its technical specifications, the Core i5-14400 shows close parallels with the Core i5-13400 but is likely to have superior clock speeds, with Geekbench indicating a base clock of 2.5GHz and a turbo frequency of 4.7GHz, as also confirmed by VideoCardz.

The processor's emergence on Geekbench aligns with Intel's impending 14th Gen Core series launch, which begins with processors having a TDP of 125W. Subsequent releases will see 65W and lower TDP variants, expected early in the next year. Within this new series, the Core i5-14400 is positioned as an anticipated mid-tier offering. Moreover, two variants of this processor have been identified, based on either the C0 or B0 silicons. Although differences between the two aren't pronounced, the C0 silicon is derived from the older Alder Lake top SKU die, with some cores deactivated. This distinction might influence performance outcomes.

The processor's benchmark results on Geekbench denote a commendable performance—scoring 2464 points for single-core and 13373 points for multi-core tests. This denotes significant improvements over its predecessor, the 13400, especially in multi-core benchmarks. Looking forward, the anticipated launch of the Core i5-14400 and similar 65W desktop CPUs in early 2024 hints at the culmination of the LGA1700 socket platform and the current naming conventions used by Intel.
