Gigabyte has confirmed the integration of Ryzen 9000 branding for AMD's forthcoming Zen 5 processors and announced the release of AGESA 1.1.7.0 beta BIOS updates for its 600-series motherboards, including X670, B650, and A620 models. This makes Gigabyte the third manufacturer to support the new Ryzen 9000 series on AM5 motherboards, enhancing compatibility with AMD's next-generation CPUs. AMD's Ryzen 9000 processors, based on the Zen 5 architecture, are set to be backward compatible with first-generation AM5 motherboards, similar to the previous AM4 compatibility. This backward compatibility allows users of Ryzen 7000/8000 series CPUs to upgrade without needing new motherboards.

Details on the Zen 5 architecture remain limited, though it is anticipated to employ TSMC's advanced 4nm and 3nm process technologies. There are additional reports regarding AMD’s future plans for Zen 5-based products, including desktop and mobile APUs. Codenamed Strix Halo, the upcoming mobile APU featuring Zen 5 and RDNA 3.5 technologies is expected to rival Apple’s M series CPUs. Moreover, AMD is reportedly developing other APUs under the codenames Fire Range for desktops and Strix Point for less-powerful mobile applications.

The beta BIOS updates allows users of X670, B650, and A620 series motherboards to prepare for the Ryzen 9000 series, anticipated to launch later this year. However, as these BIOS updates are currently in beta, users might encounter some issues during their initial implementation.
