ASUSTOR's latest NAS series, the "Drivestor Pro Gen2," introduces notable enhancements in CPU performance, making use of ARM processors. This updated release, announced on January 8, 2024, includes two models: the 2-bay Drivestor 2 Pro Gen2 and the 4-bay "Drivestor 4 Pro Gen2," with an estimated market price starting at $269. The Drivestor 4 Pro Gen2 stands out as a NAS kit powered by a 4-core Realtek RTD1619B ARM processor, showcasing a remarkable 21% boost in CPU performance compared to its predecessor. This upgrade results in improved read/write speeds and expanded functionality.

Notably, this ASUSTOR model marks the introduction of support for the Btrfs file system, adding advanced data protection features such as point-in-time snapshots and data rollback and restoration in case of unintended changes. The memory configuration includes built-in DDR4 2GB, while the hot-swap drive bay accommodates both 3.5-inch and 2.5-inch HDD/SSD drives, enabling tool-free installation and removal. RAID options encompass RAID 0/1/5/6/10, single, and JBOD configurations. When configured with RAID 5, the maximum transfer speeds reach 287MB/s for reading and 293MB/s for writing.

The network capabilities of the Drivestor 4 Pro Gen2 include support for 2.5 Gigabit LAN, and the interface is equipped with three USB 3.2 Gen 1 ports. The physical dimensions of the 2-bay model measure 114mm in width, 230mm in depth, 170mm in height, and weigh 1.6 kg. Meanwhile, the 4-bay model is 174mm wide, 230mm deep, 170mm high, and weighs 2.2 kg.
