SSD Operating Temperatures

Temperature Measurements

During our test benchmarks stress tests with a high-stress workload, we monitor the SSD temperature. The peak stress temperature measured hovers at roughly 70 Degrees, which is not bad considering the performance level and the fact that this SSD has no heatsink. Once we placed it under a heatsink, that value dropped to sub 60 degrees C and below.

Above the temperatures reported back from the sensor. This is with the heatsink installed. Below a thermal image with the SSD writing at max perf.

Above we removed the heatsink and it is abundantly clear, you need some form of cooling as otherwise, this product will throttle down. Team includes two coolers, a Graphene strip, handy for laptops, and a full heatsink, which works really well. Of course 99% of us will tuck the unit away under a motherboard heatsink.
