Graphics memory (VRAM) usage

How much graphics memory does the game utilize versus your monitor resolution with different graphics cards and respective VRAM sizes? Well, let's have a look at the chart below. The listed MBs used in the chart are the maximum measured utilized graphics memory during the test run.

Vram

Graphics cards at the 4GB marker combined with the best quality settings will be sufficient, but the game eats it all. For Ultra HD and the best image quality settings, you will like the fact that your graphics card would have at least 8GB of memory.  At both 1920x1080 and 2560x1440 we close in at 6GB~7GB used. Fact remains that with a 4GB card you will not experience any problems as the game simply tries to fill up memory wherever it can and is needed. Up to Full HD (1920x1080) any 4 GB graphics card of decent caliber will do the job well. I would like to see 6 GB for 2560x1440. If you want to play Ultra quality with Ultra HD as preferred monitor resolution, 8GB+ is advised.  Again this is based on the best image quality settings.

Concluding

If you like the genre, then Shadow of the Tomb Raider is not going to disappoint. it's a pretty looking game that actually works really well with DirectX12, you need to be CPU deprived, in a low resolution or have an enthusiast class GPU before you would notice that. but when DX12 kicks in with such a setup, it works really well. Square Enix offers a technically enhanced and PC worthy game here, This new installment of Lara Croft's trilogy manages to impress. The graphics are nice, actually not far away from its predecessor, but it all looks a bit crispier and is beefed up a notch. You'll see nice lighting effects, dense vegetation jungles, and the likes. Nixxes was the party that optimized the engine, and it shows as DirectX 12 is working well. With AMD GPUs I'd even call it a mandatory choice. Please do select DirectX 12 and again, with fast hardware DirectX 12 offers proper gameplay.

We hope you enjoyed the read and the results. The game overall is a fun game if you like the genre, the content certainly has its moments. Any card to date should run fine at 1080p, at least on any modern GPU. Please do make sure you have installed the latest compatible graphics card driver, the new 19.3.2 or higher driver from AMD as well as at least 419.35 GeForce drivers with the new RTX patch in place. You can download the latest AMD Radeon drivers here and the Nvidia GeForce drivers here.
