Words & Conclusion

The motherboard delivered impressive outcomes with the Core i7 14700K. Its integrated M.2 heatsinks effectively prevent thermal throttling, ensuring consistent performance in SSD tests. While it boasts extensive connectivity options, it lacks Thunderbolt 4 support, a feature available in more expensive models, though this omission is unlikely to be a significant drawback for most users. Priced at $249, the question arises whether the B760 series can truly be considered a mainstream option. Nonetheless, the MSI MPG B760M Edge Ti WIFI motherboard stands out as a powerful and well-equipped choice for gamers and power users alike. It features a reliable power delivery system with a 12+2 power phase design, a PCIe 5.0 x16 slot, and a single PCIe 4.0 x4 M.2 slot. The inclusion of Wi-Fi 6E, absent in the previous B660 model, enhances its appeal.

Performance

We utilized a DDR5 7200 kit for this review, and that revealed spectacular bandwidth; albeit you'll gain some performance we don't think it's worth the money to spend too much on high-frequency kits though.  The performance, then, this motherboard is built and refined for just that. That goes from processor and memory performance towards WIFI6E/7 and Ethernet with even a 2.5 Gbps link. The  MSI MPG B760M Edge Ti WIFI  comes with a decent power phase arrangement, overclockers will like this. Our take on PCIe 5.0 is this: at this time and stage, it's not needed for graphics cards, and for NVMe SSDs it might be a nice addition. If you install a PCIe Gen 5.0 NVMe SSD, remember they'll run extremely hot. Please place it at the SSD slot closest to the CPU, as it is Gen 5.0 as well as being cooled really efficiently thanks to the heatsink.

DDR5 Memory

If you decide to go for a completely new platform, the elephant in the room is the cost of ownership. While DDR5 memory will get cheaper next year, you'll likely pay a price premium. For Intel, we recommend at least 5200 MHz; however, much like AMD, 6000 MHz might be a nice sweet spot. Stability-wise, we had no issues, we took a random 7200 MHZ CL34 kit from TeamGroup.

Energy efficiency

We tested with a Core i7-14700K, a processor rated at a staggering max 288 Watts TDP (PL1+PL2) states in combo with this motherboard. That does not mean the processor runs that all the time; however, for bursts of time when needed, it can pull that wattage. Overall the temperatures peaks high, but only for a short amount of time. We see better overall values than what AMD is offering with the 7950X(3D). You could cool this processor with a premium heatpipe-based cooler; however, we'd advise a nice LCS kit.

The conclusion

In summary, the MSI MPG B760M Edge Ti WIFI motherboard stands out as a dependable and feature-rich option suitable for gamers and advanced users and gurus. It is equipped with a PCIe 5.0 x16 slot, a PCIe 4.0 x4 slot, three M.2 slots, numerous 4-pin fan headers, a high-quality Realtek ALC4080 codec, and boasts a robust power delivery system featuring a 14+1+1 power phase design, along with Wi-Fi 6E support. However, its pricing at approximately $250 / 275 EUR may be a point of consideration. The value of investing in this motherboard when compared with potentially more affordable Z690 options, especially when considering compatibility with K or Non-K processors, is another aspect to evaluate. In the end the MSI MPG B760M Edge Ti WIFI motherboard offers a compelling combination of performance and features, making it an attractive choice for those aiming for a more affordable DiY build versus very decent feature set.
