HIS Radeon HD 3870 X2 review

Aah yes, two power connectors again. Here we have the external power connectors. You connect your power supply to this 6-pin power connector and one to the 8-pin connector. Mind you, a 6-pin plug will fit in the 8-pin connector as well. The downside with two 6-pin plugs however is that AMD Overdrive will not be enabled (overclocking options). The more high-end power supplies have both the 6- and 8-pin connectors.

Why two connecters ? Well .. two FPUs, power consumption is at a peak of near 200 Watts.

Granted, lengthy ... but not at all a bad card to look at is it ? it's even a little UV reflective, watch:

And there she is, doing a good workout in our test-lab. Quite a pretty sight in the test system isn't it ? Let's have a look at the HIS version of exactly the same card. Observe how the power connectors are placed. This way they will not block the plug (opposed to the usual spot at the back of the card).
