Testing the mouse

Reviewing a mouse is tricky (almost like with audio devices). Usually, I use a Mountain Makalu 67, and you must remember that I have massive palms. I liked the experience with the CLUTCH GM31 series. The design is very good. It is very light (at 58/73 g, respectively, for the wired/wireless version), rather small (but enough for my hands), and should be very satisfying for most users.

As you can see, the polling rate (1000 Hz) is achieved and stays close to the value that the manufacturer declares.
For gaming tests, I’ve used:

  • PUBG,
  • Battlefield 1,
  • Call of Duty: WW2

The MSI Clutch GM31 series did very well in all cases because it’s responsive. The main buttons are very friendly and responsive; the switches have a prominent click and a pleasant sound. The (two) side buttons are easily reachable, tactile, and very responsive (and you must remember that the Omron switches are used for all six, with 60M keystroke durability). The 12K DPI sensors (PMW-3360 in the wired version and PAW-3311 in the wireless edition) are doing their job well. Overall - there are six buttons total, and five are programmable in the MSI Center. We didn’t have to go further than 3200 DPI for our gaming needs. The wireless connection was flawless; there was nothing to complain about in the latency and responsiveness department. The range is about 10 meters; you usually wouldn’t need that. Due to the lack of a Bluetooth connection, connecting more than one device at a time is impossible. Movements are registered as they should be. We did not encounter undesirable phenomena in the tests or when gaming (such as the pointer moving by itself), and the level of precision was high. The sensor responds very well with no noticeable interpolation or angle snapping.
DPI selection works friendly and fast: you click the DPI button.

There’s not too much to write about the lighting effects. There is only one “zone” (the MSI logo). As the target user, no remarks on this topic will be aware of that. The grip is very good, but you must remember, although the mouse is compatible with the palm (well, not ideally), claw, and fingertip grip styles – the size is relatively small (too small for my hands, but hey – I’m a 2-meter-tall guy).
The battery life is close to the advertised result; it could reach about 100 (instead of 110) without the lighting and about 60 with it enabled. The battery is possible to be charged via the bundled magnetic charging dock.
There are rubberized grips on the sides, which is good. Also, the MSI Center would need some upgrades, as some competition offers more in that department.
