SSD performance file copy tests
SSD Performance
In this benchmark round, we start with our real-world file copy tests. Currently, specific controllers benefit from compressed files, yet others don't. Any storage unit's nightmare, whether an HDD or SSD, is storing tiny files as fast as possible. Specific storage units hate small files, whereas others work well with them. So, it only makes sense to do some manual tests on that.
File Copy
This is the most basic and simple test anyone can perform. We drop a ~ 200 GB avi file onto the SSD. The writing speed will fluctuate a bit here and there during the writing process.
The SSD managed to write 200 GB, staying at about 2.8 GB/s. It didn't drop till the end.
AS SSD Copy Benchmark Performance
The audience that we cater to here at Guru3D.com is made up primarily of gamers. Therefore, I'd like to start offering real-world game performance tests. A lot of things happen in the system when a game is loading. The CPU is hard at work; your SSD loads up executables, binaries, shaders, textures, and whatnot, while the system memory processes it. With a fast SSD, you can decrease the overall loading time of your games and levels.
AS SSD Compression Benchmark
This test creates test patterns on the target drive, which are random and vary in the level of compression used in the test data. For this chart, you want a straight line that's as high as possible (no compression performance loss), which indicates the highest performance in MB/s. This ranges from 0% compressible to 100% compressible.
AJA System Video Test
AJA System Test is used throughout the industry to provide accurate and detailed evaluations of drive performance statistics. This information allows users to predict the capabilities of any drive system for recording and playing back various resolutions and codecs.
Blackmagic Disk Speed Test
Disk Speed Test is an easy-to-use tool to quickly measure and certify your disk performance for working with high-quality video. Click the start button, and Disk Speed Test will test your disk using large data blocks and then display the result. Disk Speed Test will continue to test writes and reads from your disk to evaluate performance and readability over time.
