GPU Temperatures

It is not exactly a secret that the GeForce GTX 480 is one hot puppy when it comes to temperatures. Cramming three cards close to each other of course means creating a challenge thermal wise.

Luckily the cards do have an intake at the rear end to get their cold air from, but the side with the heatsink and the fan of the graphics card ditches a lot of heat, and does that close to the underlying SLI graphics card. As such we wanted to look at the temperatures on all cards measured during gaming and stressed 100% with a shader application.

So with the two cards fully stressed we kept monitoring temperatures and noted down the GPU that got the most hot, there's was definitely an increase in the GPU temperature on one of the GPUs, yet it remained under 80 Degrees C which quite honestly is something you wish your GTX 480 would run at. So that's all fine as well, nothing dramatic here either.

Obviously with extra GPUs in your PC, please make sure your PC is well ventilated at all times.
