BFG GeForce 8800 GTS 320 Mb the OC edition

The two GeForce 8800 GTS' we'll be testing today have been submitted by BFG Technology. I have to tell you that I'm rather fond of BFG products ever since we started working with them. Agreed, their bundle usually is a little more average, in this case also no free game included, but usually they have a slightly better price. Included in the bundle are:

• GeForce 8800 GTS 320 MB
• Driver CD
• HDTV block (3-way RCA component)
• 6-pin to Molex power cable
• manual
• VGA->DVI dongle x2
• BFG T-Shirt

Obviously again this card is also a reference based product, but since it's the OC model it is pre-tested; and now has a gauranteed higher clock frequency. The OC versions will be clocked at 540 MHz (500 standard) and will have a default 800 MHz (1600 effective) memory frequency.

Other then that we see a standard cooler yet with BFG shim on it. In the USA you'll receive a life-time warranty on this product, in Europe due to EU legislation, merely ten years which is still heaps. Extended warranty is very nice actually, especially for OC models.

XFX GeForce 8800 GTS 320 Mb the XXX edition

On their end XFX submitted the XXX version of the 320 Mb GeForce 8800 GTS.

What do you need to remember when you buy the product ? Look at other things such as additional software, special coolers, extended warranty, faster clocked models and so on. In this case, the 8800 GTS 320 Mb XXX version will be clocked at an impressive 580 MHz. Not only that but the memory is clock at 900 MHz and this time you'll have an 1800 MHz clocked framebuffer. So in terms of performance, the math is easy. This will be the faster card of the bunch.

In the XFX box we'll find a 100% reference NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTS 320 MB with strangely enough a green PCB color. Other then that the only thing different is a sticker saying it's an XFX product.

XFX offers a two year warranty here in Europe, whereas in the USA they have a different policy. So the XFX card definitely has the best proverbial cards on the deck here, yet with less warranty.
