Core i5 750 and Core i7 870 review

Core i7 750 -- So as you can see the frequency looks a bit off. It's correct though. Power management and the combo of Turbo mode make the Lynnfield based 750 very dynamic on CPU clock frequencies. You'll notice that the tool confirms the lack of Hyper Threading.

And the proof that Lynnfield indeed is Nehalem based, behold the caches.

Initial tests runs (not with final memory and frequencies). DDR3 detection is handled properly. We run reference tests at reference 1333 CAS 9 1T by the way.

Core i7 870 -- And once again as you can see, Prime 95 was running, Turbo mode then kicks in at 3200 MHz distributed over all logical CPU cores. We spot that Hyper Threading is enabled... 8 threads are available to us. nice.

Oh yeah, Nehalem all the way...

And here is an example of memory configuration with the DDR3 memory overclocked at 1600 MHz CAS7 / 1T. It runs absolutely perfectly btw, there's a whole lot of tweaking headroom.
