Benchmarks and Hardware

For the HDA X-Plosion 7.1 review, Ive built up a new machine for the occasion around an ASUS A8N-SLI Premium motherboard and an AMD X2 3800+ CPU.  While not the small toaster-sized HTPC one would expect, it is very media-centric.  The ASUS board seems to run the CPU a little overclocked at 2010MHz.  All drivers are as current as possible, with the exclusion of the video card driver, at the time of writing.  I tend to stick with the most stable, and the ForceWare 84.21 are very stable with this rig.

The specifics are below:

  • AMD X2 3800+ @2010MHz
  • ASUS A8N-SLI Premium (6.86 nForce4 driver)
  • 2Gb DDR SDRAM
  • 120Gb Seagate 7200.7 SATA drive
  • EVGA nVidia GeForce 7800GT CO @470MHz/1.1GHZ (84.21 ForceWare)
  • nForce 4 Audio ALC850 (4.65 driver)
  • Creative X-Fi XtremeMusic (2.09.0001 driver)
  • Auzentech HDA X-Plosion 7.1 DTS-Connect (1.47.3 32bit BETA drivers)
