The ASUS TUF Gaming RTX 4080 SUPER, while bearing a resemblance to the RTX 4090 model in terms of appearance, warrants an examination of its packaging and included components. The package of this particular model contains additional accessories such as the Velcro Hook & Loop and the Graphics Card Holder.  ASUS has integrated the blue and red colors of the ROG logo into the card, adding color accents to its design. In contrast, the ROG Strix models of the RTX 3000 series have a more understated design, which may appeal to certain users. The TUF Gaming GeForce RTX 4080 SUPER OC Edition is packaged in a hexagonal-shaped box, consistent with the brand's traditional packaging, containing an inner box that might present challenges when opening. The package includes various items such as a user's guide, warranty information, a miniature foldable cardboard model, a Velcro strap, a trading card, a support bracket for the GPU, and a 12VHPWR power adapter.

The design of the TUF Gaming GeForce RTX 4080 SUPER OC Edition mirrors that of its predecessor, the TUF Gaming GeForce RTX 4080 OC Edition, featuring a large triple-fan cooler encased in a shroud with an industrial metal frame design. The graphics card occupies 3.65 slots, measures 348.2mm in length, and weighs approximately 1.9kg. A GPU holder is included to support its considerable size when mounted horizontally. The card's architecture also incorporates three screw holes at one end, which might be intended for attaching a specialized retention bracket to manage the card's weight. Additionally, a switch on the back of the card allows users to toggle between performance and quiet modes, catering to varying preferences for fan noise.

For power, a 750W power supply is recommended, as per the official product specifications. The RTX 40 series cards, including this model, require the new 12VHPWR connector for power. The card comes with an adapter that converts 3 x 8-pin PCIe connectors to a single 12VHPWR connector. Alternatively, users can use a modern power supply that already includes a 12VHPWR cable.

The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080 SUPER is a refresh successor in the ADA series, and is set to replace the current Ampere based 4080. This graphics card is equipped with 16 Gigabytes of GDDR6X memory, operating at an effective data rate of 23  Gbps. This configuration results in a memory bandwidth of 736 GB/sec. Detailed insights into the product's features and specifications are provided in the subsequent sections. While last-gen GeForce RTX 3080 Ti featured 10240 stream/shader processors, the RTX 4080 SUPER also offers  10240  shading cores and delivers markedly higher performance.

The GeForce RTX 4000 series, while adhering to PCIe Gen 5 specifications, operates using a PCIe Gen 4.0 x16 host interface. Similarly, the RTX 4080 / SUPER 16GB GDDR6X memory, with its 256-bit wide memory bus, offers significant bandwidth and storage capacity. Despite its 320W Total Graphics Power (TGP), a 650-watt power supply is recommended, although the actual power consumption typically ranges between 275-300 Watts. Keep in mind that board partners may allow for higher TGP, potentially leading to increased power usage in certain configurations, alongside a notch of extra performance of course. The RTX 4080 SUPER  card exhibits a nicely crafted design with a triple-slot thickness and as you can see, it has a lot of cooling real estate.
