Introduction and Analysis

Today marks the release of the ASUS GeForce RTX 4070 (12GB) DUAL. While our review of the founder edition card, priced at an MSRP of $599, may already be familiar, there are additional MSRP offerings beyond the founder edition design. ASUS has introduced a range of Dual GeForce RTX 4070 SUPER graphics cards, designed to cater to users requiring compact solutions for small-form-factor builds. These cards feature a distinct design inspired by retro-futuristic space-age aesthetics, enhancing the visual appeal of various computer builds. The heatsink, occupying 2.56 slots (with a variation of 2.5 slots in the EVO edition), ensures compatibility with a wide range of cases. The cooling system of these cards incorporates multiple heat pipes and dual Axial-tech fans, engineered to deliver efficient thermal management. This makes the cards suitable for both gaming enthusiasts and content creators, offering reliable performance across different case configurations. The ASUS Dual GeForce RTX 4070 SUPER series includes several variants:

  • ASUS Dual GeForce RTX 4070 SUPER
  • ASUS Dual GeForce RTX 4070 SUPER OC Edition
  • ASUS Dual GeForce RTX 4070 SUPER White
  • ASUS Dual GeForce RTX 4070 SUPER White OC Edition
  • ASUS Dual GeForce RTX 4070 SUPER EVO
  • ASUS Dual GeForce RTX 4070 SUPER EVO OC Edition

Targeted at ray tracing, DLSS, and AI-powered assists, the GeForce RTX 4070 SUPER offers quite a bit of performance. At 599 USD, it is in reach for a lot more people as opposed to the previous high-end products At a retail price of $599, the RTX 4070 is a somewhat more affordable option for gamers seeking high-end performance compared to its predecessor, the RTX 4070 Ti, which was initially priced at $899.The GeForce RTX 4070 SUPER boasts impressive features such as ray tracing, DLSS3, and AI-powered assists, making it an attractive choice for gamers who demand optimal performance. With 7168 (was 5888) shader cores and 12GB of 21Gbps GDDR6X memory across a 192-bit wide memory interface, the graphics card delivers a maximum bandwidth of 504GB/s. It also includes 56 RT cores, 224 Tensor cores, 224 TMUs, and 80 ROPs, using 35.8 Billion transistors counting AD104 silicon as the RTX 4070 Ti, with 56 out of 60 streaming multiprocessors being enabled. The RTX 4070 SUPER provides a more affordable upgrade solution for gamers who want a high-end graphics card.

ASUS has expanded its graphics card offerings with the introduction of the DUAL GeForce RTX 4070 SUPER, a more cost-effective option that delivers baseline performance. This graphics card, with its compact and aesthetically appealing design, measures about 27 cm in length and features a dual-fan cooling system. This system effectively keeps the temperature at a stable 65°C, while maintaining a low noise level of 36-37 dBa, contributing to a quiet gaming environment.

The AD104 GPU powers the GeForce RTX 4070 7168 shader cores, which can generate an impressive 36 FP32 Shader TFLOPS rendering rasterized graphics, 224 Fourth Generation Tensor Cores for AI processing and DLSS, 56 Third Generation Ada RT Cores for driving next-generation ray-tracing The GeForce RTX 4070 SUPER like the rest of the GPUs in Nvidia's RTX 40 Series, features Ada technologies like Shader Execution Reordering (SER), the new RT core engines, and DLSS 3. This graphics card is clocked to 2475 MHz (boost) with a TGP of 220W.  In terms of resolution, the ASUS DUAL GeForce RTX 4070 SUPER performs nicely, particularly in the 2560x1440 range, making it a viable option for users who value design and quality. While it may not be the fastest card on the market, ASUS provides flexibility for modifications, including a 9% increase in the power limiter. This adjustment can elevate the clock speed to 2.9~3.0 GHz. When combined with the GDDR6 memory, clocked at 23 Gbps, this card offers potential for performance tuning. The DUAL GeForce RTX 4070 SUPER, positioned as a product with the Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price (MSRP), aligns closely with the reference specifications, mirroring the Founder's Edition card's performance within a 1% margin. It boasts an effective memory speed of 21 Gbps.  Let's start this review, shall we?
