Your move, Sony.

With the announcements lately I think Microsoft is much more confident in their console than Sony and going by what we know so far they should be.

Just in time for Xmas.

I'm a life long PC gamer and have an good gaming rig, but I'm really looking forward to having a play around with this new Xbox. It looks groovy.

Good stuff, now, do i trade in my XBX now or wait until closer.......CEX are giving £178 cash for it at the moment, so that and the 8 months left of MS rewards until it launches will net me another £95, bringing my X series fund to £273......nice start........so do i grab the money now or wait and see if it goes up, or down.....oh decisions decisions decisions. lol

Does it matter right now??? No one knows how long this situation is going to last and on top of that many people are going to suffer a lot financially because they can´t work, this means that those people are going to have less money to spend on non essential stuff, like consoles... I could be wrong but i think the release of the new consoles is going be the worst of the last decade.

Well in theory the longer you wait the lower the price will become, due to the market starting to be flooded with other like minded people. How much it would drop depends on how many people sell it to CEX. So its a game of risk and chance. as well as depends on how much you care for a bit of money compared to the enjoyment you get from it now. Only downside is you also dont know how much the new console is and if its out of your budget range if you have one. But end of the day the choice is yours, i personally keep my consoles, they are great as backups for just incase

Honestly, I would sell now. Economically, things are going to get bad in the next few months, and it's likely the used market will suffer as a result. That, and the fact that forwards compatibility will be having people hold on to older consoles for longer, means the used market is likely to be very different this time around than it has been in the past.

If you place any value how much you're going to get from your current XBX then the answer seems clear - sell it now. The closer we get to the successor's release the less you'll get.

hmmmm.... I would still go Sony... I like the controller more... roughly 10% difference in Tflops means little... 100mhz less in a Zen2 means nothing... it's like a crazy OC vega56 killing easily the Vega64... even if the flops don't match up crazy SSDs speeds... sure... it'll come down how devs use it... naughty dog are gods of the gods since Crash 1... and if they give that streaming power to the common person... (who knows what I'm talking about, knows what I mean) in the audio arena, if it means games are gonna sound better than Jedi Fallen Order, then feck yes... it'll come down to who's more gamer friendly, people have quickly forgotten how badly MS wanted to analy assault gamers with non resaleable or lendable games, reserving 15% of the GPU for the kinect crap... xbox xbox360 burning down... friend's Xbox1 dying because of a brown out... sure sony had their share of yellow lights and HDMI connector issues but... I loathe SLOT LOADERS... I wait for the cheapofied later build with a top loader or an improved design

It’s not like there are any games to play on it so go for it. I own a XBX and a PS4 pro BTW and my XBX only gets turned on to play UHD Blu-rays. The PS4 through its life has had many more impactful games and omits about to have FF7R, TLOU2 and Ghost of Tsushima in the next months.

I bought and xbox for Forza mostly, now that I can play it on PC, xbox has nothing for me to buy another one, Sony has all the good console exclusive games, not one or a few, all of them and it looks like its going to continue in Europe Sony was already massively ahead of xbox this gen it's going to get worse next one

I am the complete opposite, the pro only had one game i was intertested in, GOW, hence why i bought the GOW limited edition, and apart from that and LBP3, which i had on the PS3 anyway, i have about 10 PS4 game with most being for the PSVR which is what i use the machine for, SkyrimVR, Borderlands VR, Dirt rally VR, Bridge Crew VR, wipeout omega VR, Rush of blood, RE7.....and saying that i have half of them also on PCVR also, Skyrimvr, Borderlnads vr, Drit rally VR, bridge crew vr, but what i like about console vr is the fact the HMD is Oled based which is great for deep colours and black levels, and i like the fact it's just turn on and play, which the PSVR does great, with the only thing keeping the PSVR from being the best VR on the market being those grabage move controllers with no thumbsticks and the barely adequate room scale tracking with the PS eye camera which can cause some annoying drift in games, something you don't get with the CV1 or Vive external tracking.......but everything else i do is on the XBX, almost all my digital and physical xbox 360 library are on my XBX account now, all the forza games, gears, halo, gamepass ultimate, play anywhere and xbox/W10 crossbuy(i love crossbuy), plus MS console quest rewards, which i remembered i also make on the console so i can't trade it in at present as i would lose money from losing access to those reward points...........but it's all subjective, one mans mince is another mans steak. 😉 But the PSVR II can't come quick enough, i just hope Sony don't go cheap and make it LCD based this time round, because i won't touch a LCD based HMD as they are just horrible, morso after you have used a OLED as it is just too much a step back in vibrancey, colour and those deep rich black levels as no one wants to be sitting looking at grey space and washed out colours....so listen up Sony, thumbsticks and OLED, you hear me, i will give you the money so don't go cheap on us. lol

I have bought all the Forza games up until now but the last two have been extremely underwhelming. They seem to care more about accessibly and casuals over what Forza started out as. Forza 2 was the pinnacle of the franchise and horizon 3 was great until the expansions just made the game weird. Never cared for shooters so Halo and Gears are just a game to me.

Unless Sony come up with something like Game Pass then I will pass on the PS5. Sony do have better exclusives, but if its going to be slower and make me pay full price for games then I'm not interested. The majority of Sony exclusives also tend to be story driven games that you could just get someone to loan you one and finish all the exclusives in a long weekend. I'm also not convinced by what they have revealed about backwards compatibly. As for the Series X being released before the end of the year. Don't see it now. This could the worst time ever to decide to release a high end console.

I’m hearing a lot of devs saying there is mostly no difference in power between the two consoles and that the XBX may actually be holding games back a bit due to its SSD and memory configuration.

^^Any devs already complaining about hardware limitations on these new god like powerhouse consoles after what we saw achieved game, hdr and 4k wise on the XBX and Pro, with such limited old hardware, should give up their dev job and go find something that suits their skill level more, like collecting rocks from the beach. Lol

I doubt any real devs are saying anything of the sort, this is the usual fictitious fanboy rumours that appear when one side has the "on paper" advantage. It would be funny though, if gaming threads where full of PS5 Master Race people complaining that multi platform gaming is being ruined by dev's catering those filthy lowest common denominator PC gaming peasants.

Didn’t say they were complaining but that the speed of the PS5’s SSD opens up new possibilities. Keep in mind game devs now a days for the most part limit loading speed from storage. It seems 500Mb/s is all you need in games as any faster is unused and this is on PC. It’s even lower on consoles. I’d think it’s more around a 100Mb/s limit there (the CPU is too slow).
