"Jaguar Evolved 8-core CPU at 2.73GHz, 4MB L2 cache" Makes me sick even looking at it. They should been using Ryzen chip instead. There will be no 60fps gaming on this console.

2.73GHz!!! πŸ˜• lolz, what is this the 1980's!!!! :stewpid:

Agree with opinions about Jaguar cores.. not only it will hold back fps, but physics, AI and animations are and will continue to be limited by this weak link. Thus many games have good graphics, but limited physics and as a result appear flat. Physics was supposed to be the next frontier

I don't think it's necessary. Going to Ryzen would have delayed the console by at least two years as Ryzen APU's aren't even out yet and a semi-custom design on the architecture would take a year at minimum. So you could only start doing the bring up/dev testing/etc a year after this thing is releasing. Also the Jaguar isn't that bad. It's essentially two 5350's overclocked, so it would have roughly ~7K passmark score. Plus the low level API targeting stuff would probably further offset the difference. With 4K being the new "target" GPU is probably going to be the bottleneck majority of the time anyway. They could have maybe went with an off the shelf Ryzen solution, but it would have cost a ton more, still been slightly delayed, used way more power and probably wouldn't have received all the cool DX12 stuff MS is doing because it wouldn't be an APU.

You can put physics on the GPU.

It's a mid generation refresh console what did you expect?

i would said last iteration of actual gen console, a bit like the PS4 Pro: a way to finish this gen.

Ryzen is more expensive and despite better and most advanced still need to mature (last bios update is from june)... for a console it's still a "no go". imagine the drama for a single small bug with an XBox one game...

in 1980 it was around 5Mhz the Ghz was far far away πŸ™‚ BTW it have better memory than PC and need to be nearly fanless... and this is what a PC doesn't need πŸ˜›c1:

We all know what consoles can do developers squeeze every last bit of power out, Don't forget after release firmware updates will probably have a cpu increase and other tweaks etc, On paper it looks good and is a lot more faster than xbox1 which I am still hapy with, I always buy next generation consoles I just wait until they are at a good price and plenty of games, It can do 4k at 60fps defo 4k is in now would be bad on Microsoft to not make it perform at this level.

Were there even rigs clocked in the double digits in the 80s? lol People seem to forget though that The Scorpio like the Xbox One and the PS4/PS4 Pro are made to offload all the processes on each part of the system. The GPU can offset some of the workload thanks to DX12. I expect in Scorpio, this is going to be even better considering the memory bandwidth available to the whole system and the amount as well. Memory I would say is one of the Xbox One's biggest bottlenecks right now.

So Scorpio has the specs of a 1080p/60 gaming PC with a slow cpu... . Developers have to do wonders with dx12.

Jaguar is not that bad. Scales fairly decent for what it is.

6 Teraflops of performance is pretty impressive for a console - that's the same as a GTX 1070!

"6 teraflops of performance" means almost nothing without context (brand, architecture) Scorpio is using a Polaris chip. Stock 480 = 5.8 TF Stock 1070 = 7.3 TF On paper, flops: 480 + 25% = 1070 Reality, framerate: 480 + 25% = still ~30% slower than a 1070

Common,do you wanna 5GHz on SoC??? Ryzen its not ready for consoles. The GPU matter and will do a good job.Lets what will got Sony Playstation.

(5.8*.25)+5.8=7.25 7.3/7.25=1.01 so basically 1% difference. 7.25-(7.3*.3)=5.06 making it slower than a stock 480? Unless I'm doing my math wrong, I don't see where the 30% factor comes in?

DF made a nice video explaning why Destiny 2 will be running 30fps on PS4 Pro blaming on the Jaguar CPU. Developers also stated that it was impossible reaching 60fps on consoles. They also stated Scorpio will probably have the same problem. Whats the point of that 6tf GPU? 4K/30fps? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EYRPzW6YmL8

I think the one thing that will help in Scorpio's case if developers use correctly would be DX12.

Guys do You expecting 95W TDP CPU + 160W TDP GPU + all the other chips. Closed together in small box.. Then transfering-out all the heat tru the Wi-fi..? πŸ˜€ Seriously now. They must reduce clocks. They have to compromise all the time. Must resolve heating problem vs durability vs stability.. and price of the components ofc. And it's a challange. 6 Tflops from GPU is enough for properly optimized 1080/1440p at 60FPS. But some exclusives will be promoted as 4K60p. Today GPU's already doubled the scorpio performance. So we see...

"Xbox 10 S"... they should've kept the Scorpio name.

On pc with all of the most recent most demanding games I don't think I've seen over 7gb be used. Right now with fallout 4 i'm seeing 6.2gb used. So with the scaled back settings and likely much lower texture res for ram reasons. I think 9 is way more than enough. As for the cpu being garbage. It might be garbage if 60 frames were being targetting but knowing consoles it will be 3 framea at the best of times which means cpu doesn't need to be great and they always prioritise graphics over performance. That's the nature of a console. You buy a console if you don't want to deal with it. I wouldn't take one if it was free but I'm not their taget audience. Pc master race need not apply.

Irony being that the graphics almost always suffer in the end.
