If you search for this feature on the internet, you'll find that it has been around for quite a while. I've been using it for months. Why is using Controlled Folder Access as protection against ransomware suddenly news?

Microsoft Experimenting with Controlled Folders in Windows 10 against ransomware (guru3d.com)
I am guessing here that a news outlet just discovered this Windows 10 feature or presented it as a tip and then other news outlets just report it as news instead of like a tech tip. If you look at the author of Tom's Hardware article on this, he states that he didn't know about this feature and he found out about it from a Forbes article. Technically it is not news since news, and I quote dictionary.com, is "a report of recent events'. It certainly isn't recent but if someone didn't know about it, it's new for them.
