Making the perfect O.S even better!:)
(Love the metro start menu)
Extraordinary
Doesn't look like they've done much since 8.1 release
Added a few context menus and a couple of buttons and a pin to taskbar option... in almost 4 months of development since 8.1 was released...
Way to go MS lol

BLEH!
This OS still does absolutely nothing for me. Win7 FTW.

The update does make Windows 8.1 a lot more user-friendly for people like myself who find the Modern UI (Metro) screen to be extremely jarring alongside the desktop but it still does little to convince me that the Modern UI is overall a bit unnecessary on a desktop.
Even Apple have two different operating systems for the products, OSX for their Mac range and iOS for their iPads and iPhones so I never could quite understand why Microsoft thought it was a good idea to make Windows 8 both a tablet and desktop operating system. "Jack of all trades, master of none" is the expression that springs to mind when I think of Windows 8.

Even though I do not use any of the Metro apps I do like many of the tweaks they made in that area. It will probably actually have me using the Netflix apps and some others, the upper task bar with the minimize, exit buttons make it very Windows like.
Great OS.

To be fair that build is a few weeks old :P I believe it also adds support for low end tablets and helps the OS run better on those so there's again more under the hood stuff.

Wow that interface is a mess.
I can't believe they are still pushing this useless metro crap to the desktop users. Its not a desktop interface, nor is it a pure touch interface anymore. In fact they are butchering the touch interface so you will end up in menu's that are to be controlled with the mouse. Just unbelievable.
Why not just reintroduce the start menu EXACTLY like windows 7 and let the user decide if they want to use the metro interface OR the desktop interface.
If it weren't for startisback (and the like) i would have never even considered windows8.1 even if it meant losing performance in some aspects.

They aren't butchering the touch UI. The context menus are for those on mouse and keyboard only.

Watching a video review when it first leaked, the right click context menu in tablet mode is the same as it is in the current 8.1 RTM, it brings up the bar at the bottom not the right click menu

Metro will now piss me off significantly less than usual...glad to see they finally used some logic w.r.t. desktop users.

I'm not touching a new version of Windows without a proper/classic desktop optimized for mouse/keyboard and large high resolution displays.

Many cosmetic changes, nothing of a proper start menu.
Well, I'm happy I bought Start8 after all...

Mary from Zdnet is now saying the Update will go public in April's patch Tueday but it may RTM in March.

Leaked? Looks more like marketing to me

Yeah to me too. It reminds me of 7's development :P There were new builds like every other day!
