You know what they should do, incorporate some type of launcher like the Xbox One dashboard into Windows 10 for a dedicated game mode/controller interface. Beggars can't be choosers I guess.

Like steam's couch mode? Don't think they'll try it. They tried something similar with Win8 and people dished them out for it. They also had something similar in WinXP and then removed it.

I don't think you can navigate with the controller though.

They should fix game compatibility, original Quake and Hexen 2 are not running.

and you will have to reinstall whole windows after fail upgrade on 1st April

I do that anyway, to be honest. But I hope they find a way to do it actually smoothly. Linux distros have it figured out for years now.

I can't even get 1607 to install let alone this new update. Win10 pushed a new version of 1607AU last night but again it won't install on my system. The update completes and then the system reboots twice and goes back to 1511. No error message or anything, just won't install no matter what i try. So i'm not looking forward to that build either.

They likely wont ever do that because that essentially turns your PC into an xbox, and make their console a pretty pointless product for people who have somewhat decent rigs. if they were to implement that though, i'd be interested in building a HTPC to play the few games that are both win10 and xbone compatible.

Hype, hype, hype. It all sounds like "shooting a dead horse" to me. Anybody here remembers the applications that supposedly raised the "gameability" of the good old win xp? They've been advertised as "designed to help optimize your PC for smoother, more responsive game play in the latest PC games with the touch of a button...". Basically, it was achieved by closing unnecessary drivers/programs thus leaving more CPU/RAM power and other resources to the game.

Maintaining consistency would require gaming mode to kick in automatically when a game launches. There should be no need to enable it. That way in a following update they could show how much their listening has improved by bringing back the ability to run games alongside other programs; keeping true to the history of fixing what they broke while not admitting they broke it in the first place.

The interface on the Xbox one is horrible and needs to be fixed. I do not want something like that on windows. Unless you're able to set it up how you want it.

Interesting. I always prefer Windows tablets to Android ones. Which one do you have?

Steam's BPM and kodi 17 will do the job better than whatever MS could come up with for controller interfaces imho. I just want to know what will happen to 1511 after this lands because then 1607 will move to current branch for business. TH1 and RS1 have LTSB builds so they will get a decade's worth of updates but an old laptop in my care won't update past TH2. Kinda worried because I don't want to install everything all over again. I'd be more than happy if it continues to function and get updates in TH2.

It's a couple of touch gestures really that make the whole thing classes superior to iOS and Android.

+1 I've actually been wanting something like this for years. Since 8.1 on my gaming setup I've been using the full screen start menu and having each of my games as a tile that I can navigate through with a wireless mouse and keyboard and then switch to my Xbox one wireless controller after I select the game.
