In other words: we will bring you the most useless update ever, but create ridiculous amount of hype around it.

Finally can post a damn link. The best feature is this: http://www.neowin.net/news/microsoft-demos-bash-running-on-windows-10 "Earlier today at Microsoft's Build 2016 keynote, the firm announced that it had partnered with Canonical to bring Bash to Windows 10. The feature will allow the user to create a Linux command line, access Ubuntu binaries, and despite working from a Linux environment, access the Windows file system."

I think very few software products are defined by what they excel at. Most of them are defined by problems they cause. By undesirable behavior. When you have game which has beautifully written story, likeable characters, but you can't finish it because it is utterly broken... game will be remembered for being broken. When you do not like certain aspects of OS, and MS gives you option to disable those aspects. But will continuously let you know through Action Center that you have them disabled. You are to be annoyed, and as those notifications hit you more often than those features you turned off did, you begin to question logic behind. When each minor update reverts 1/2 of your "customization" to default, you do not even call windows experience as "personal experience". (By that I mean, not even task manager remembers that it should be in extended view, with CPU utilization displayed per logical core and with kernel times. After each update I have to set it up again.) And when MS pushes version with as small bug as inability to reset OS to original configuration (full system restore to defaults), as doing that would soft brick your device. You really wonder if moving your devices to W10 was worth it. I am pretty sure that if I am ever in need for recovery of that lovely little x86 tablet with W10, it will send me on epic journey.

Nothing from those features will make my classical desktop experience better in any way. All of them are features to improve W10 tablets and touch screen laptops. I see nothing interesting for our classical desktop usage. There may be more under the hood changes and improvements when this updates comes. In other words this update is completely useless and boring for me. I hope there are fixes, improvements for the desktop experience when it comes out.

Get done with implementing Bash into Windows, then I consider upgrading to Win10.

Just a pity Cortana is not available in many countries, so one of the main features Microsoft talks about is not available to all.

I'm reading this Win 10 update news and all that I can really think about is how much I'll have to reset my preferences and disable unwanted "features" after this update is applied. Windows 10 is good, Microsoft's tyranny over it's use, not so much. It used to be that keeping Windows stable and secure required a significant amount of attention. Nowadays Windows is very stable and as secure as a mainstream OS can be but now it requires a significant amount of attention to keep Microsoft's sticky fingers out of my data and privacy.

To be fair, "Build" focuses mostly on developers and not user-facing features. There are already a number of classical desktop changes in the insider builds. It's been confirmed that they are rebuilding Windows Explorer (hopefully with tab support). Plus they are doing interactive live tiles and rumored to be adding a google now style card system to the notifications/cortana. Virtual desktops also got a bit of a change in one of the newer builds that allows you to run multiple concurrent applications across them. I use it all the time at work.

They need a whole new build to give vsync control back? If they can get some of the store issues fixed I may actually buy GoW, but for now I am staying away.

well OS isnt stuff that need to be hyped anyway except on release day maybe what people need from OS is reliability and ease of use that when OS turn from good OS become great OS that people stick on people might get baited by "new features" but as soon as they finding bunch issue, it wont long before they roll back to previous OS that works for them

Phil said the V-Sync fix is coming in May. Anniversary isn't supposed to be out until July. So it sounds like the V-Sync thing is coming in a regular update or some kind of interim build between now and the Anniversary one.

Yes they do. They have to change the Window Manager to do that. As for the rest, even as a person not that close to actual development, Microsoft is probably the best development platform at this moment, not because of the reach of said platform (which is still huge), but because of the capability of the tools in that platform. I was more interested on what Phil Spencer said on the ability to mod Windows Store games. If that's in, then some ACTUAL competition to Steam is due time. As for people comparing it to GFWL, it is nothing like that. This is not only for games, this is the new way Windows gets programs so it's not going anywhere. I listened to most of it live, they spent an awful lot of time trying to say time and time again that they don't create a "walled garden", but that 30% sure stings. Although everybody else except Microsoft is getting it at this point.

Mutli GPU support and vsync toggle for Windows store games and applications is a good thing. But why so late?

To be fair, there are many different builds of Windows 10 so it's not like a different build number has 1000 more features or fixes.
