I wish storage prices would go down like they used to...unfortunate to see them being stuck for the past 5 or so years. At least density is still going up, but the price is too much for the average person.

nice article about it there if you want to read
the average cost has reduced every year so far. 1TB might not have dropped down too much mind you in recent years, but still continues to become cheaper, and the bigger hard drives are becoming insanely cheap per a GB, read that 4TB is only 2.5 Cents a GB.
If anything the price has become very cheap, when i first got a WD black 1TB it cost me £104, now that same product is £70~ currently for just a little more £118 i can get a 2TB one, 2 times the size, yet only 12% (give or take) more in cost.
These products can only get so cheap due to manufacturing costs, think this is why 1TB HDD's have for the most part stopped going down, whilst the higher density ones are dropping quite rapidly still

I guess I have to stop being poor or don't save so much stuff 🙄
What I meant to say is that the price is dropping slower, and as density is getting higher it's hard to buy those high capacity HDD's.
Here prices are different:
2Tb HDD costs 0.043€/Gb
3TB HDD costs 0.038€/Gb
4TB HDD costs 0.034€/Gb.
I opted for the 3Tb model 2 months ago as it was closest to my budget.
Also, in manufacturing you have fixed costs and variable costs. As to 1Tb drives, you can't go lower than your fixed costs. The higher capacity drivers you're paying for R&D.
The link you showed clearly reveals the cost is getting lower more slowly as density increases.
