Didn't Crytek go bankrupt?

I think they closed down a lot of their studios.

Well I hope some games make use of the new engine, as I honestly think Vulkan is the best API in a long time. I actually couldn't believe my eyes when I saw the difference in Doom with the Vulkan API. It was unbelievable that you can get so much more from a API change. If all games can return results like this, then I honestly don't see why any developers will be using anything else besides for the small fact that some older hardware doesn't support it yet. Give the fact that it is completely cross platform supported is a very big deal to developers. The pros of Vulkan outweighs the cons by a longggg shot.

"...But then news came of a new licensing deal keeping Crytek from having to file for bankruptcy. Reports now indicate that this mysterious licensing deal was made with a very unlikely source, Amazon.
Amazon has reportedly licensed Crytek’s popular game engine, CryEngine 3, for a figure falling somewhere between $50 to $70 million. Thanks to this hefty deal, Crytek has been able to resolve its numerous financial issues...In the future, CryEngine 3 will be used as the engine for a number of gaming projects, including BattleCry, which is being published by Bethesda. In addition, the highly ambitious science-fiction epic, Star Citizen has been created using CryEngine 3"

Most engine devs nowadays are going to be looking at Vulkan as it's likely it will become the standard on mobile devices, well Android devices anyway.
I'm sure Crytek got Crysis 3 running on Android even with OpenGL ES, not that it was ever released though.
