Sounds good. Wireless would obviously be the best, but I don't trust wireless enough even for my mouse, so a single, dedicated cable solution would be the next best thing for the time being. Quite a limited consortium, perhaps, but at least it has all the most important players. Intel's absence is a bit strange, considering the blue giant is even dreaming of video cards of its own, but who knows what they are thinking if anything. Apple's absence is most welcome. Apple would just make it twice as expensive as it really needs to be for no reason whatsoever.

Sweet, this way they won't charge extra like they would for wireless.

I can't tell if that's sarcastic or not

for me this is future idenpedent for any maker without any GPU, I think that user need reclaim any prices variation before to bought sometimes I remember old Intel Drivers hmm seem that manufacturers's don't respect your own users;)

I'm not, being a standard means it will have the lowest cost out of all the options.Any other features (can only think of wireless) will make the price go up. Sure they could pull a "HDR/4k/Gsync/144hz" price but i doubt it,they're trying to make VR more mainstream. If they manage to one cable it,for me it will be one con down, the only one remaining is the screen door effect. Which will probably be eliminated by then.

Well at least its progressing, maybe we'll get those VR glasses eventually... only way I'll be buying it.

So glad I sold both my DK2 and CV1 a while ago and waited!

I'm happy to see that there has been some progress made in the world of madness, but +700 hours with my HTC ViVE and I've grown tired of everything VR related. I've played racing, first person shooters and watched VR "content" and it seemed like a good idea back then, but it fell flat and is just a hassle. Lack of AAA games (a lot of "crash grabs") low performance with driver and compatibility issues. It's just another useless gimmick, much like 3D, curved & fake HDR monitors and it won't take long before it's all forgotten. Give me an affordable 27" 1440p 144hz monitor and I'm game for the next 5-10 years.

Logically, I wholeheartedly agree with you. But, a long cable that necessitates high QA standards can be more expensive than a wireless adapter. Also, for reasons that don't make sense to consumers, companies hike up the price for something just because they can, or "because it's new". So, it isn't unlikely that they somehow find a way to screw us over. But, I hope you're right.

If new generation of VR would be wireless only, big problem for VR..

Until they fix latency and bandwidth issues with wireless, I don't think we're going to see it any time soon. It's hard enough to live-stream 1080p@60FPS over wifi without serious lag, lossy compression, and/or performance issues. Next-gen VR headsets are probably going to use 4K or close to it. Personally, I think we're better off doing what MSI did, with their VR "backpack".
