This was happening to me after the 1803 April Update. To fix it, Windows key+R (open Run), type in "WSReset.exe" without quotes. This resets the Windows Store cache.

Same here. Happens on all the PCs in the household.

Tried that, didn't help in this case. On the contrary, none of my Windows Store games work anymore after this "trick" (they start and then just close after a few seconds). 🙁 All tested Systems are on Windows 10 64 bit Version 1803 OS Build 17134.48 with GeForce 397.64 WHQL drivers with various Nvidia video cards.

Did you try restarting your PC, running WSReset.exe, restarting again, and then opening the Microsoft Store and trying to download an app without logging in to the Microsoft Store?

I tried it again, and now it worked. However, my Microsoft Store games still don't work (close after a couple of seconds) after this (they worked fine before doing the WSReset.exe the first time). Any idea how to get them working again?

For games, I believe you have to be logged in to the Store, as they require a license, which is linked to your account. If logging in doesn't work, you may have to find another method to reset the Microsoft Store other than just resetting the cache via WSReset.exe.

The solution is to uninstall and reinstall my games, it seems (Resetting the games didn't work). At least it worked for Sea of Thieves. Now to do the same with all the others. Good thing I'm not on a metered connection, as I will have to re-download hundres of GBs of games again (Update: All games uninstalled and reinstalled/redownloaded over night, they now work fine). With that in mind, I suggest not to use WSReset.exe if you have many Windows store games (or likely other licensed software) installed, especially if you have a download limit. As for the VESA HDR tool it's giving me odd results that appear to be way above my monitor's specs, so something's rather fishy here.

I hate to be the one to break it to you, but this test/standard was made specifically so that manufactures can get away with selling fake HDR. This is the PC equivalent of the UHDP spec. They show target numbers they want the panel to be capable of, but then specify strange scenarios that can be used to reach those numbers. IE its set up so that they can be gamed. Why? Because LCD panels are simply not capable of doing "real" HDR without a VA panel and a bunch of FALD zones. You're going to end up with edge-lit IPS panels passing the same certifications that VA FALD panels pass, and in the end you won't have any idea how the HDR performance really is. VESA is a collaboration of the industry. Their goal is not to set standards to help consumers, it is to set them to help manufacturers. The reality of HDR is that an IPS panel would need 1000+ dimming zones (probably a lot more than that honestly) to not be a blooming piece of garbage.

I think more specifically is HDR is still in its infancy, which is why standards are still being established/finalized and there are variations of it. I currently have a 55" IPS panel that does Dolby Vision as well as HDR10 HLG, (Full Array 126 dimming zones) and it is far from a blooming mess. It's not mind blowing, but it is definitely progress in screen color/clarity/highlights etc. I'm happy with my purchase but I can't wait for a few more years down the road when I can look back and be like wow, it's come a long way
